I have never had someone try to up sell me like this he tried to replace anything he could. All I needed was inside of tolit replaced. Charged over $200 for 15 minutes work. The job was completed good but very expensive and pressure to spend more.
Marlin Plumbing Heating and Air's reply
Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad the toilet repair itself was completed properly, but we’re sorry to hear you felt pressured during the visit.
After reviewing the service notes, the original concern was a noisy toilet after flushing, and our technician replaced the failed toilet fill valve. The visit also included diagnosing the toilet issue, replacing the part, testing operation, checking the home’s water pressure, and documenting the findings. During that pressure test, the home was reading over 130 PSI, which is significantly higher than normal residential pressure.
Because excessive water pressure can damage toilet components, fixtures, valves, water heaters, and other plumbing parts, our technician recommended replacing the failed pressure reducing valve to help prevent future issues. That recommendation was not intended as an upsell, but rather to make sure you were aware of a condition that could cause the new toilet part, or other plumbing components in the home, to fail prematurely.
We always want our customers to feel informed, not pressured. Please contact our office directly if you would like to discuss the repair, pricing, or recommendation further. We would appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and earn your full 5-star confidence in our service.

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Our pricing is upfront, honest, and based on the work needed, not guesswork. We provide clear options before moving forward so customers can choose what works best for their home and budget. Dispatch, diagnostic, repair, replacement, and installation pricing may vary depending on the scope of work, equipment, materials, accessibility, and code requirements.
We also offer maintenance plan benefits, including priority scheduling and discounts on qualifying repairs. Our goal is to provide long-term solutions, not temporary fixes or unnecessary upsells.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We start by listening to the customer’s concerns and gathering the details needed to understand the issue. From there, we schedule a technician to inspect the system, diagnose the problem, and explain the findings clearly.
Before any work is performed, we review the recommended repair or installation options, answer questions, and provide upfront pricing. Once approved, we complete the work professionally, test the system, clean up the work area, and make sure the customer understands what was done before we leave.
For larger projects like HVAC replacements, plumbing upgrades, or new installations, we provide a detailed estimate and walk the customer through the scope of work before scheduling.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Our team has hands-on field experience in plumbing, heating, air conditioning, HVAC diagnostics, equipment replacement, maintenance, and installation. We stay current with industry standards, manufacturer requirements, safety practices, and local code requirements.
Our technicians are trained to properly diagnose systems, explain repair options, and complete work to a professional standard. We also focus heavily on continued training, proper documentation, and making sure our customers understand the work being recommended.
