I have read many “About us” statements from many Heating and A/C Companies. They all promise to offer fast, friendly service. They all say how they are the best and how their “TEAM” has the experience and knowledge to guarantee you the best service and installation you can find. To me it sounds like a lot of “New Age” marketing techniques – none of them put their money where their mouth is. So, I thought I would take this space and let you know how we back up our claims to being the best. Here at Davis Heating and A/C Service we guarantee all the same stuff as well; the only difference is we put our money where our mouth is! First, if you are not satisfied you don’t have to pay us. Second, the price we quote is the price you pay. We never have any hidden costs and we never ask for money up front before we start any work. Third, if we miss a scheduled service call without notifying you, you do not pay a service call fee. We have a 90-day warranty on all service work and 1-year parts warranty on any parts we use. Also, we give a 2-year Labor warranty on all new installations. We like the “Old School” way of doing business and firmly believe that “Well Done Is Better Than Well Said!” – Frank Davis, Owner –

Dear Jared and Shawn: Thank you Air Care Professionals for your excellent customer service. Especially providing us with suggestions and options to help us select a custom air conditioning system that suited our needs in our older home. We appreciate your knowledge and experience - the result of which we now have a top quality, quiet, and affordable system, professionally installed, that is saving us money. Our home is much more comfortable thanks to you. We recommend Air Care Professionals as the best in sales, customer service, and installation in Southern Utah. Sincerely, Perry and Andrea I contracted Air Care, after talking to heating and cooling professionals, to remove my 21 year old furnace and air conditioner and replace it with a new Bryant system. It soon became apparent to me that their professionalism, ethics, and character were above reproach. They came prepared to do the job and they came on time; we were even furnished auxiliary heaters to keep warm during the transition. They also gave me a promise that they would do whatever it took to make us happy with the system. I must say that they went above and beyond to keep that promise, and that we are extremely happy with our decision to give Air Care our business. Dave The past few months we have come to know Jared and Shawn as true Air Conditioning & Heating Professionals. This is their specialty and they have been doing it for many years. Our basement Heat Pump went out in January and our upstairs Heat Pump went out in July. Both times we called them they came out to look at our problem the same day. Jared & Shawn have guided us through this process, helping us select a very up to date, efficient and quality product that fits the cooling and heating needs of our size of home. Bryant is a quality product with a great warranty and qualified for generous rebates from our utility company, plus government tax credits. If you want to be cool or your feet need some heat - you should meet- our Air Care Pros Jared and Shawn. Two very Happy Customers!!!!! Tim & Eva Dear Jared and Shawn, We wanted to take a minute and thank you for your assistance with our new heating and cooling system. We are very happy with our new system. Jared was accommodating and professional in coming to our home and explaining equipment options, warranties etc. We especially appreciated the information about the rebates and incentives. Once we decided on a system it was installed in a timely and efficient manner. We were comfortable in leaving Jared and Shawn working in our home while we performed other errands. So far the system has worked very well and we are happy with its quietness and efficiency. We have noticed a substantial decrease in our utility bills. Thanks again for your professionalism, responsiveness and continued support. We look forward to a long-term relationship with Air Care Professionals. Sincerely, Donald and Jean We recently purchased and moved into a condominium. The unit has a Casita attached to the main house and we discovered that the heating and cooling was not appropriately directed to the casita using the thermostats. We called several companies and they looked at the system and said it would have to be replaced at a high cost. We finally were referred to Air Care. After examining the system Jared said that the system had been installed incorrectly, but he thought he could fix it. The bottom line is that he did some research and with some creative engineering and reasonable cost he fixed it to run like it was designed. I was impressed with his professional knowledge and desire to find a way to repair our system instead of replacing it. He gave us a cost estimate, and a time line for the repair. He cost was less than the estimate and the repair took only three hours. They cleaned up when they were finished and told us to call them if there were any problems and they would come back and make any necessary adjustments. We were very pleased with Air Care and based on our experience would gladly recommend them. Richard Thank you for your time and service. It is nice being warm again. Willie Mike & Kathy Last month we had Jared and Shawn insta Air Care Professionals can take care of all your air conditioning and heating needs including, upgrading to a new system, tune ups, new construction, or needed service and repairs, and you can rest assured with over 17 years of experience and a professional touch, you know it will get done right. We want to thank you for the opportunity to earn your business.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who fixes furnaces?

If your furnace needs to be repaired, you’ll want to find a qualified heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) repair technician. Each state has its own licensing requirements; some require all HVAC technicians to have an HVAC license, while others only require someone operating an HVAC service and installation company with employees to hold a contractor’s license. For example, in Alabama, the Alabama Board of Heating Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration Contractors regulates licensing, while in Kansas there is no state regulatory body and HVAC licensing can vary by region. For simple furnace repairs like changing out a filter, a trusted handyman can probably handle the job, but a trained professional should be hired for tasks like replacing a gas valve, installing a new inducer fan motor or other critical furnace repair jobs that involve dealing with gas leaks or other dangerous conditions. How much will it cost me to replace my furnace?

The national average for furnace replacement is between $1,800 and $2,500. The cost can range dramatically higher depending on the model of furnace you select, any repair work you require, your location and the cost of installation. Furnace installation costs can be more than the furnace itself due to the cost of doing business and the expertise needed to install the HVAC equipment. Installing a new furnace generally requires technical know-how and the proper tools and licensing. It’s best to hire a pro and budget for furnace installation rather than risk potentially unsafe DIY installation. This will ensure your home’s safety. Check to see if your HVAC contractor has the proper licensing to do the job. If you need duct repair or replacement, expect to pay more for your furnace installation costs. The price for duct repair could be an hourly rate ranging on average anywhere from $85 to $150 per hour, with additional costs for parts.

How much does it cost to replace a gas furnace?

The cost to replace your gas furnace will vary based on the type and size of furnace you select, labor and installation costs, and any repairs your HVAC system may need. Nationally, average HVAC prices for a heating specialist range between $1,800 and $2,500. It’s important to select the right size gas furnace for your heating needs. A furnace that’s too small won’t heat your house properly, while a furnace that’s too large will run inefficiently, cycling on and off and likely breaking down sooner. HVAC specialists calculate your exact heat needs by measuring your home and incorporating variables such as the regional climate and your home’s level of insulation. Retail pricing for gas furnaces can range from $650 up to $3,000 and more. The higher the AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) rating of the furnace, the more efficient it is at turning fuel into heat and the lower your carbon footprint and utility bill will be. HVAC installation costs are often based on an hourly rate and can range from under $50 to over $100 per hour, depending on the company and the furnace being installed. Higher-end furnaces cost more to install because they require added labor and expertise. For a typical installation, it might take two HVAC installation pros one day or less to remove your old furnace and replace it with a new one.

How much does it cost to have your furnace cleaned?

To keep your furnace in good working order it’s important to have it regularly cleaned. The national average furnace cleaning cost ranges from $60 to $80, though prices can vary greatly based on where you live in the country and what your furnace maintenance includes. An HVAC company may have different rates for different levels of furnace maintenance. For example, one company may offer general furnace maintenance for $79 and advanced maintenance for $138. Another company may offer a 38-point maintenance check for $89 and a 64-point maintenance check for $178. According to, a standard furnace cleaning and maintenance visit can include:

  • Checking the vent connection pipe and chimney
  • Checking the physical integrity of the heat exchanger
  • Adjusting the controls to provide optimum air temperatures
  • Checking the combustion chamber for cracks
  • Testing for carbon monoxide (CO)
  • Adjusting the blower control and supply-air temperature
  • Cleaning and oiling the blower
  • Removing soot and corrosion from the furnace
  • Checking the fuel input and flame characteristics
  • Sealing the connections between the furnace and the main ducts

How much will it cost me to replace my air conditioner?

If your AC system is in need of replacement, the national average air conditioner installation costs range from $2,930 to $3,670. Costs can vary greatly depending on whether you are replacing a wall or window unit or a central air system. A central air system is connected to ductwork that runs throughout your house and pumps cooled air into your various rooms via vents and registers. A central air conditioning system is far more costly than wall or window units. Selecting a central AC system that has a high seasonal energy-efficiency ratio (SEER) will likely lower both your carbon footprint and your utility bill. The type of AC system you select, where you live in the country, and the regional costs of HVAC work, duct removal and replacement, and ductwork repairs that are needed are some of the main factors that affect the cost of new air conditioner installation. Here are some examples of average costs for installing forced-air systems.

  • Install Lennox 16 SEER single-stage AC unit: $5,743
    • Removing and disposing of the old furnace, moving and reconnecting the water heater, and installing a 3.5-ton gas furnace. The job took 18 hours of labor.
  • Installation of a new 14 SEER single-range cooling system: $4,000-$6,000
  • Installation of a new 16 SEER two-range cooling system: $6,000-$8,000
  • Installation of a new 20 SEER variable capacity cooling system: $8,000-$12,000
