Chi Dr. Productions
So it took me almost a year to review so I'm really late. First off let me say that to us, over the phone he has a DJ personality. We were sold off of his voice and enthusiasm! He made everything very easy You got to pick your playlist and because he's a DJ, he gonna "BRING THE PARTY!" When he asked us for the playlist we told him that we had some request to be played at certain times and some request from the guest but you can play anything just make it a party that people will have fun and get down with (No Bieber please). So, as with most DJ's you would expect them to have fun with such an OPEN BOOK of music at your fingertips. .......so...... you get what you pay for. The ceremony was easy b/c you have set songs to play and you can't mess that up (at least I hope most DJ's wouldn't), he didn't mess it up. The reception......... as a DJ he was kinda dull. His personality on the phone was like a completely different person in comparison to who we got. Who ever was on the phone should have been the one playing DJ at our Wedding. I've gone to my friends wedding and their DJ had more personality then ours did. Unfortunately, THAT DJ was booked already for another wedding (Go figure). Skipping around, party music was played but it was toward the end of the night. Granted, that was only after my mother (who introduced herself to be the Brides mother to our DJ) had to go and ask the DJ to play some up beat music. Which apparently didn't happen until my Husband went over to follow up and said "If request are made by her then play it". What would I rate him: 3 Star rating because for the amount we paid. Would I recommend him?: If you're tight on a budget and you have the entire playlist of what music you want played from beginning to end. We could have had and iPod, that's how well he did. How was his personality: Dull Did he hype the guest up?: No Would I hire him again?: No, I could have payed my father to DJ. He has more stage presence then our DJ did and my father doesn't like people. =/Jan 19, 2018Verified
he did an AMAZING job. everyone had so much fun at our wedding; we had our must play list and he took care of the rest and really did a great mix for everyone in the crowd. Got to the venue super early for set up, was super professional, took some song requests which keeps the guests happy. It was overall great. Thank you for making our wedding awesome!Sep 6, 2016Verified

Q & A
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My pricing is pretty standard and basic. I charge my basic rate for a block of up to four hours. Pricing variances are based on type of function (birthday, wedding, outdoor vs. indoor, corporate event, school event, etc.), size of venue being used, equipment needed (regarding extensive lighting or not), number of attendees, dual set-ups that are over 300 feet apart, and to a much lesser extent location (if the event is outside of the 50 mile radius of Fairfax County, VA). I encourage my clients to inquire about pricing, even beyond my original quote.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?DJ'ing has always been in my blood. I got started playing records for my grandmother's card parties when I was 3 years old. I have pictures on my website to prove it. I've always prided myself in entertaining people and have a great ear for music and it's compatibility. Once I became an adult I collected so many CD's that I needed to do something with them. My family and friends started encouraging me to start DJ'ing in a business format, as I had gained experience over the years doing it for fun for my peers. Thus, in June of 1999 I created Chi Dr. Productions (Chi because I'm originally from Chicago and Dr as it is the initials of my name - Donnell Robinson). I've been so blessed and enriched with my talent and experiences. The best part is getting to know my clients and their attendees, it is a great forum to network from.
- What types of customers have you worked with? The most common type of jobs I perform are weddings, private parties (birthdays (including Sweet 16's, mehndi, quinceanara, bar & bat mitvahs), reunions, graduations, holidays, themed, corporate functions, school functions, pool, etc.). I've gained experience in these type of events since 1999.
