FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Start small. So many nagging injuries start by undertaking large, glamorous movements without a proper understanding of fundamentals. I prefer to teach students to mentally isolate and engage muscles, that reducing injury and fostering bodily harmony. People think exercise needs to be all over the place to get a work out, but some of the hardest classes I've taught have been fundamentals for advances students.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I took my yoga certification from Flow Yoga Center, focusing on vinyasa and Dharma methods. My barre certification came from Barre Tech as well as Biker Barre, and I completed apprenticeships at Studio Prawda with the Romana-trained owner. I'm constantly going to new workshops, reading new books on the subject, taking classes, and liaising with other professionals. You'll never have the same workout twice.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Growing up with back problems, I turned to yoga and pilates for reprieve. After discovering barre, I went every day until I was taken aside and asked to teach a class. From then on, there was no entertaining any other career. I left my desk jobs and decided to focus purely on fitness and wellness.
