* Structural solutions: framing design and underpinning
* Land development: erosion and sediment control plans, grading plans, site plans, BMP design, and retaining walls
* Surveying: stakeouts, plats, and wall checks
We do private inspections in Fairfax County (footings/slab).
We do permit processing at DCRA, Fairfax County, Prince George County, City of Alexandria, Montgomery County, Arlington County and Loudon County.

We worked with GTZ Consultants on a house addition in Chevy Chase and very much appreciated Luis Gutierrez’ support and professionalism. He is an excellent and pragmatic structural engineer, expertly and expeditiously managed the permitting process and was always available to consult with us and contractors when needed.

Luis and GTZ Consultants were indispensable to our renovation. We already had an idea about our design and layout, but needed someone who could translate these to architectural drawings and navigate the DC permit process. Also, we were managing much of the work ourselves and were needing someone who would be generous with their expertise for non-professionals. Luis not only met these needs, but he exceeded our expectations. He was prompt, professional, kept us informed throughout, and turned around high quality work very quickly. When we came across some potential issues in the process, he did not hesitate to help us with suggested changes and make updates to the plans and permits. Even during the early stages of the pandemic when DCRA was still working out their remote work practices, Luis secured our permits within weeks, when others were taking months. We hired GTZ Consultants (Luis) to draw up plans for an addition. He was extremely punctual and did an excellent job. My husband and I made numerous changes and Luis was helpful, receptive, and patient. He finished the plans in December and helped us apply for permits. Anything that we have needed and any questions we’ve had, he’s been responsive and willing to answer them months later. I highly recommend working with Luis and GTZ Consultants.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
First of all. I would tell them to check References and previous jobs. Go and take a look by yourself and call those References and request some information about those jobs previously done. Check the history of those jobs. Now everything is on the Internet. You may surprise what you find.
