- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
No, no complicated system for pricing! I strive to keep my rates low, but I also need to be sure to cover my time & gas expenses. Typically rates are lower in the general vicinity of my house & increase the further distance I have to travel. I do offer discounted rates if paying for a months worth of dog walks & if petsitting services are needed for a week or longer.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
After first communicating either by email and/or phone to figure out what the customer is looking for, and if they are in my range of service, we'd schedule a meet & greet so we all can become acquainted with one another. During the meet & greet, we typically go over the pet(s) schedule, get an idea where everything is located, visit any particular potty areas the dog is accustomed to, and go over some paperwork I bring with me. If everyone is satisfied we move forward with service starting whenever the customer needs.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started doing this as a side job while I was still working at a vets office & in my senior year go high school, as a way to bring in some extra money for college classes & books. Just started small, with family friends & coworkers. By word of mouth, it spread & I realized this was my calling... I woke up every day happy about what I do & being able to help out others.
