When my family arrived in the US, Ksenia handled all our visa applications, our renewals and she then put together our Green Cards. Her knowledge and experience made the paperwork look easy. We were kept well informed throughout the entire process. All our emails were responded promptly. Their website was very helpful and informative. When it's time to apply for citizenship, we'll ask ilex law for help again.

Rachel is so thorough with her approach to interaction with her clients and with all the associated paperwork that she needed to submit on our behalf. I kept in touch with her even beyond the work she did as part of the consultation and she went over and beyond the call of duty to provide me with some guidance on a work-visa related matter. I really appreciate the time, effort and diligence with which she approaches her work. I would highly recommend Rachel Wormer and her law services.

Mr. Saffold helped me to get my green card in immigration court through marriage to a USC. When the government was delaying my green card application Mr. Saffold sued for writ of mandamus in federal district court and got an order from the judge for the government to finish my case immediately. He helped me to get a travel document for an extended trip out of the country. Mr. Saffold also helped my mother get a visitor's visa to come to the U.S. He has also helped one of my friends get asylum. He is currently working on my naturalization application. His fees are reasonable, he works efficiently and he is a pleasure to work with.

It's a distinct pleasure and honor for me to have an opportunity to submit this review. Michael is not only an outstanding immigration attorney who is extremely knowledgable and up-to-date with all the current laws but he's also an extremely caring attorney who gives special attention to each and every client. I've been a client of Michael since 2007 for a number of different immigration issues and have also referred relatives and friends who have hired his services. He's done a wonderful and amazing job for each and every one of the cases. He always goes above and beyond the call of duty and is meticulous and on time. The most important case that he handled for me was obtaining an immigration visa (fiancee visa) for my wife and subsequently her Green Card (U.S. residency). It was his skill, caring, and attention to details that allowed completing this case successfully in the quickest time possible; my wife obtained her immigration visa only a couple of months after Michael prepared and submitted her application and she obtained her Green Card only one one month after we got married in the U.S. Michael's invaluable guidance and advice was also critical for some of my in-laws to be able to obtain U.S. tourist visas to come to the U.S. to visit me and my wife, and also for us to be able to obtain a Green Card for my mother-in-law, to name some more among several examples. If you're looking for the best immigration attorney in the Northern VA/DC/Maryland region, look no further; my very enthusiastic and unequivocal recommendation is Michael Mcvicker!

Legacy Immigration has helped me get off the removal proceedings that was filed on my name for overstaying my H1B visa for few months. The attorney Dawn S. was very helpful, reliable, and professional in all her dealings. Being in "removal" is never fun! At times I would be upset, unsure of my future, but the attorney at this firm knew the laws so well, she was sure my case could be terminated. She did a really good job at my PD, in less than five months I was off the removal! What I liked most is that I could depend on my attorney and have peace of mind. I had really bad experiences with my previous attorney, and because they were incompetent, I had to suffer. You may find someone willing to get the job done in less money but in the end it will cost you more for not hiring the right attorney. So save yourself the stress and get yourself someone dependable. Dawn is the best at what she does!

I visited her for legal advice regarding naturalization application. I had couple of traffic incidents which I was sure on how to proceed with the application; helped me navigate through the process. Moreover, the time was worth the cost compared to other options which I had. I would recommend Ivylaw to anyone in need of legal assistance.

On behalf of my grandmother who is old and not computer savvy, I am writing this review highly commending the work that Atty. Reidmiller has done for my grandmother. Atty. Riedmiller did an excellent job helping my grandmother from the very beginning of the process from having a non-immigrant visa to having a green card until she finally got her US Citizenship. She went above and beyond the call of duty and persevered well enough to help my grandmother to gain her citizenship who did not feel confident about passing. She gave my grandmother the confidence by helping her prepare for the interview and the exam patiently and kindly. In the end, she was able to ace her citizenship exam and pass her interview with flying colours. Her attentiveness, understanding and respectfulness is the key to my grandmother’s success. We are very grateful for the fact that Atty. Riedmiller is very professional and very personal. Because of that, our friends and relatives had hired Atty. Riedmiller and I would recommend that you would do the same.

My name is Young B. Kim. I am a semiconductor designer at Samsung Electronics. I was referred to Attorney Chang by a number of my colleagues at Samsung and from International SoC Design Conferences. Initially I contacted Attorney Change regarding my qualification under National Interest Waiver and get my green card via that route, but Attorney Chang recommended me to take the route of doing the First priority person of extraordinary ability. We submitted the EB1 petition with premium processing and it was approved exactly 7 days after the submission!!! I was so happy that I will be immigrating with my family to the US- The interview at US embassy at Korea was a breeze, took about 5 minutes. Even though Aaron carefully went over what I will be asked at the Embassy, I didn't get to do any of the explanations to the embassy officer. I will be moving to Portland, Oregon the new job in August!!! Highly recommend Attorney Chang for his expertise!!!"

My Wife and I contracted With Bryan Randolph and Associates to help us with our Green card application paperwork. This process can be very confusing and most certainly is a little scary. Bryan was incredibly responsive, and clarified concepts and assuaged our concerns. It's easy to get confused and overwhelmed by all the paperwork and knowing "What do they mean when they ask..." Bryan we extremely patient with our questions and explained everything in terms that we could understand. I would strongly recommend working with Bryan Randolph and Associates for any immigration needs. Thank you Bryan, you really made this process as easy as it could possibly be!

I was rear-ended and the person that hit me didn't have any insurance. Mani responded to me right away. He calmed me down and made me feel confident that he'd help me recover the cost of the damages, but what really stood out to me was his genuine concern for my injuries. He even followed up with me after I visited the doctor -- all before I even hired him for my case! I'm glad that I had Mani to help me understand the process soon after the crash, and I trust that the process of submitting the insurance claim, making a demand, and negotiating a settlement will be both better and faster due to his expertise and involvement. Thanks Mani!

It is a mission dear to her heart, as she seeks the best for her clients, which shines through in her effort, time, and delivery. She will answer any question she can to the best of her ability.

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does an immigration attorney do?

Immigration lawyers help their clients through all phases of the immigration process. Experts on immigration law, they are legally qualified to represent U.S. citizens, permanent residents or undocumented immigrants. Immigration lawyers also provide assistance to visitors here on student, work or travel visas, and can represent clients who may have an expired visa or who have overstayed their visa.

You can hire an immigration lawyer to assist you with petitioning for renewing a permanent resident or green card, navigating the naturalization process, submitting an employee-based petition for a work visa, filing a petition for a family member, or representing you or a loved one who is facing detention or deportation, as well as replacing, extending or changing a current visa, green card or work permit. The immigration process is highly complex, with multiple hearings, paperwork and requirements. Hiring a legal expert to represent you can help you make your best effort in the process. When researching immigration lawyers, it is very important to verify their qualifications and find a reputable attorney. Read reviews and verify that the immigration lawyer is licensed by your state before paying any fees.

How do you find a good immigration lawyer?

Research is key to finding a good immigration lawyer. The immigration process can be overwhelming and complex, so a trustworthy advocate is critical. When you have identified several eligible candidates, verify their immigration law license to protect yourself and your finances. Once you have a set of licensed immigration lawyers in mind, choose one based on these considerations:

        • Mutual respect: You want an immigration lawyer who treats you and your family with kindness and consideration. You’ll do the same for them.
        • Availability: Before hiring, note if they have responded promptly to your emails and calls. You don’t want to hire someone you have to chase around.
        • Proven success: Read former client reviews and research their success rate with cases similar to yours.
        • Transparent rates: Ask directly about what their rates are, how they bill, and what they estimate your legal fees will be. Ask if they will sign a fee agreement, and get receipts for all fees paid.
        • Verify who will handle your case: Sometimes junior lawyers work on firm cases. This is okay, as long as you have discussed it and are comfortable with it. When junior lawyers or paralegals are working on your case, ask if the hourly rate is lower.
        • Be wary of anyone who promises you specific results: No case is certain, and the immigration lawyer should be honest about what you can expect.

How much does an immigration lawyer cost?

Immigration lawyers are experts in the nuances of the highly complex United States immigration system. They help clients of all backgrounds petition for immigration status and become U.S. citizens, and can represent clients who are facing deportation or detention. Nationally, the cost people pay for immigration lawyers averages $500-$1,010. The services you need will have a huge effect on your costs. For routines cases, such as applying for a travel visa, an immigration lawyer may be able to confidently quote you a set price, while more open-ended cases may be billed at an hourly rate of $200-$500, or more, depending on the reputation and experience of the firm and lawyer. Before hiring an immigration lawyer, ask what their plan for your case is and what expected costs may be. Many immigration lawyers work from retainers, and request a set amount of money upfront from which to work. For example, a lawyer who charges $300 per hour may estimate $4,000 for a standard family-based immigration case, the common process in which a U.S. citizen petitions for permanent residency for their spouse, fiancee or family members.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
