Bob from Mr. Sparky came out to replace some light switch panels. Although the cost of the panels was much more than the ones I got from Home Depot (which were not the correct switches) they now have a warranty and I know they are installed correctly. Bob was very helpful and took a look around the house to see if there were any other potential electrical issues with the house. Highly recommended.

Responsiveness of the company and the courteousness of the technician (Robert) were both outstanding. I chose Modern Mechanical because of the low diagnosis fee ($59 versus $100-$120 for other quotes I received). The price to fix my problem once identified, however ($150 to replace an indoor LED-capable dimmer switch) was high in my opinion (e.g. Washington Checkbook Magazine in 2015 quoted an average price to replace an outdoor, GFCI outlet with a new waterproof cover of $178, and an average price to replace six indoor wall outlet receptacles and one light switch -- all with covers -- of $220). I also asked about replacing a 75 gal gas water heater and was quoted nearly $2,200 (compared with other quotes I've received of $1700 or so). I highly recommend Robert as a technician, however. Thorough, pleasant, communicative and professional.

I have used this company multiple times and have been uniformly very satisfied with their work and people. Today (Jan 15, 2020) Marlon and Zach completed the final phase of our long-term HVAC upgrade plan for our old house by expanding a heating duct, adding a humidifier, and upgrading our filter system. Earlier work included recent full replacement of our main HVAC, and adding an air cleaner. They also replaced a badly corroded water heater years ago. Their people have all been highly professional, experienced, fast, and able to provide top-notch results.
