Craig completely finished our 1500 square foot basement to include a bedroom, full bath with custom stone tiling, a wet bar, custom-built shelving and crown molding. It was a pleasure working with Craig! He was very patient with us as we made design choices yet he stayed on task getting the job done in a very timely manner! He combined artistry with high-quality expert workmanship! We could not be happier with the work he did! Craig is very trustworthy and effectively communicated when he would be working and when his schedule had to be adjusted! We will definitely be hiring Craig again for future projects!!Sep 6, 2015Broadlands Home Improvements's reply
Thank you so much for your very kind review! It is a pleasure knowing how much your family enjoys the basement space now that it is finished. Here's hoping you enjoy it for years to come!
Craig Hart has done three bathroom remodeling projects for us in the past few years, and he assisted with a kitchen remodel as well. We've been extremely pleased with the quality of his work, the turnaround time and his work style. Craig is very knowledgeable about home improvement projects, and we learned of him through a reference from a friend for whom he did a bathroom remodel. Craig always provided an easy to understand estimate with the scope of work, had ideas to lessen costs, and never exceeded the amount discussed. He also was very reliable, coming on the days and times he promised, and finishing the job prior to deadline. We would hire him to do any home remodeling project. Specifically we had him do flooring and tile, hook up plumbing, drywall patching and repair, installing heating flooring in our master bathroom, adding finishing touches to tile such as bullnose, etc. We have been super happy with the results and his expertise has enhanced our bathrooms and kitchen tremendously. Craig is very responsive and easy to work with. I highly recommend him to anyone!Sep 30, 2015
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?I generally price labor for jobs by the time I think it will take to do the job and in full day or half day blocks. Then I provide an itemized list of materials with a cost breakdown. I do not have a mark up on materials but just charge whatever I pay for them or let the customer get them. I want to very clear on what is included in the price because I rarely if ever add a change order to the contract.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?I typically get new customers from referrals. Usually I set up a meeting time and go over the details of the project. I ask questions about the scope and provide recommendations for design and cost effectiveness. I have a very simple standard contract to which I add the scope of work, price, and payment schedule as well as other pertinent information.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?Although I have a bachelors degree from Purdue University in construction I have learned a lot by simply years of doing. I have always enjoyed working with my hands and working with people. I have completed several courses required to obtain licensing in Virginia and also in Florida.
