Introduction

Math, Chemistry & SAT/ACT Prep Teacher/Tutor: Your student’s success is my goal. I am available to teach and tutor middle or high school students for the coming 2020-21 academic year either individually or in small groups. In the context of the current COVID-19 pandemic, I can teach “learning pods” to ensure that students continue to progress and strengthen their skills. I am available to teach and tutor in person with appropriate safety precautions, or virtually using Zoom, Google Meet, or similar platforms. I have 10 years of experience tutoring all math levels from Algebra 1 to AB Calculus, Chemistry, AP Chemistry, and SAT/ACT preparation. For the past 5 years, I have taught these subjects, as well as other STEM subjects, for grades 7-12 at a private high school in Ashburn; all classes have been virtual since March. My approach is to customize instruction to the individualized needs of each student, build on their strengths, provide effective strategies to address challenges, and maintain close communication with parents. Clark is an outstanding tutor. He was instrumental in increasing my son’s grades in Pre-Calculus from a D to an A. My son and I were so pleased with the results and with Clark’s skills, that we asked him to work with my son for Chemistry and SAT tutoring as well. We saw similar improvement in both Chemistry and his SAT scores. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Pricing will vary based on the level of the course as well as if it is individual vs group tutoring/teaching. If a small group is involved, then per student pricing can be reduced to lower the individual cost for each student in the group.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I am happy to meet a the parents and prospective student before beginning actual tutoring sessions. This can either be done outdoors at a local Starbucks or virtually during a Zoom meeting. This way, any questions can be asked ahead of time, and the parents and student has a chance to meet me as part of the evaluation process.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 30 years experience in engineering and consulting having worked on various projects around the United States as well as having lived in Mexico City and Buenos Aires, Argentina. My second career started in 2009, and I have been tutoring and teaching for over 10 years.
