- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
We want every student and family to be able to benefit from our resources, regardless of economic status. That's why we our starting rates are all affordable and will never exceed $35! In addition to this, we can provide great discounts for anyone who needs them. We promise that at BrainStorm, you will never have to sacrifice affordability for quality of tutoring services. Aside from our popular tutoring services, BrainStorm also hosts cheap workshops/summer camps, free competitions where students can win prizes/scholarships, and free on-demand educational resources. There are only fees that apply in the case of a late cancellation or late payment. We allow cancellations up until the day of the session, however if a cancellation is made within 24 hours of the scheduled session time, there will be a $15 late cancellation fee. We also only charge a late payment fee if an invoice is left outstanding for 11 days or longer. In addition, if a client misses a session or arrives late, they are still expected to pay the full amount owed for the scheduled session. These policies are only in place to protect our tutors’ work and time. We also understand that individuals may be impacted financially by the COVID-19 pandemic, so if a client wishes to request a fee to be waived, we will absolutely take this into consideration! Overall, we want to do everything we can to provide an affordable and valuable experience for our clients.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We understand that each student has a unique learning style and study habits, and how difficult it can be to receive the one-on-one support they need in the classroom. That’s why we cater our mentorship services to the particular needs and circumstances of each individual. Matching every student with the right mentor is the first step we take towards helping students reach their academic goals. If students or parents would like to get to know their mentor before committing to sessions, that is definitely something we can do! From there, mentors work with students to create an individualized learning plan to achieve their academic goals within their desired timeframe. Mentors help our students with tutoring for their hardest subjects, offering catered notes and resources, and even by providing valuable college admissions advice! At BrainStorm, we call our tutors "mentors" instead. (This is because we don't want students to feel ashamed for needing a "tutor," rather we want to empower them to have a "mentor" who can help them in school.) Since we're college students, many of our clients have been able to gain much needed confidence in their academics, knowing that they're working with someone close to them in age who has been in their shoes before!
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Each and every one of our mentors have high levels of expertise and passion in their respective subjects. All mentors at BrainStorm are college students with ample experience and professionalism that only teach subjects they have proven expertise in. Our mentors complete background checks, virtual teaching training, and are continuously invovled in a four-step professional development and accountability cycle to ensure that we're providing the best material and experiences possible for our students. On top of that, our mentors are all are all young, outgoing, friendly, empathetic and caring individuals who can relate with students on a much more intimate level than any other tutoring service can provide. Unlike seasoned tutors, college students aren't several years-removed from their education in the topics that they tutor. We know exactly what it's like to be in our students' shoes, because we were just there! All in all, BrainStorm's academic mentors are prepared to meet each student's individual needs, and can provide you with better quality education at a significantly cheaper rate than you'll find other tutors.
