FAQs
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Yes, my certifier, The National Academy of Sports Medicine, requires 2.0 continuing education units to be earned every 2 years to maintain certification. This we earn in the form of attending workshops, seminars, earning specialization certifications, writing books, etc. I also spent the entirety of 2014 re-educating myself on the current state of nutrition. Something that I still continue regularly. There is a lot of misleading information out there about food that health professional like doctors and nutritionist are still being taught. I've learned that it means nothing for someone to say they are a nutritionist. I need to know through whom they earned their nutrition degree/certification. Otherwise you are just paying someone to professionally destroy your body!
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up a nerdy athlete and went to University of Virginia for sports medicine. After thinking I was going to be a physical therapist I learned that the glass ceiling is low and the job is repetitive. So I decided to be a personal trainer.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
Strength/weight loss training and nutrition coaching.
