I used Thumbtack to find an HVAC company to help diagnose my problem with a 16 year old heat pump which quit cooling abruptly, with a boom. I decided on David Sloan Heating and Air, and couldn’t be happier. He responded in a matter of hours and explained in detail the problem. Our 16 year old compressor died! Rather than invest in a replacement, we decided to replace the entire system. I have a few years’ experience as an HVAC mechanic in the sixties and seventies, so I understood all he was saying. We decided to do a complete install of a new Rheem heat pump and air handler. The install was fast and very neat, and his pricing was extraordinary!
We want to tell you how much I like our new heat pump and the auto changeover thermostat. During the days of cyclic temperatures my house will always be comfortable. I will not have to fool with the thermostat at all. For the past 16 years during the spring and fall seasons I always had to switch the thermostat back and forth between heat and AC. Now, no matter what the temp is outside, the house will always be comfortable
The air handler is so awesome. I love the variable fan speed control and it is so quiet. It really stabilizes the temperature in the house. When you described how the variable speed control worked and how it stabilized the ambient temperature, it made sense to me and is why we decided to go with your recommendation.
We’re so glad we followed your advice on buying this model. The temperature stabilization throughout the house is amazing. The same temperature from room to room.

David really knows HVAC and he is honest with reasonable prices. He pointed out what he was doing and why. We worked with 2 other large HVAC companies in Hampton Roads and David surpassed them in every area, pricing, kindness, thoroughness, professional, and most importantly fixed the problem!!!

Great service! David responded on a Saturday afternoon (when other companies did not) and provided same day service at no extra cost. He gave me an idea of what the problem might be based on my description, was very personal and professional, and described both projected costs as well as actual costs before charging me. We will happily recommend and use David Sloan's service again!
