My name is Seth Tompkins. I’m a local to the central Virginia area. My grandpa trained his two sons to install flooring and carpet. The two sons (one of which my dad) have installed carpet for 40+ years. I have branched out and expanded into cleaning. I use a portable entry level cleaning unit. It’s a low moisture unit which means it’s way better for the longevity of your carpet. The more modern chain cleaners who I will not name typically use a steam based system that blasts your carpet which may clean it and get lots of stains out… but it ruins the backing and adhesive. Cleaning like that shouldn’t be done often if at all. My cleaning services are dedicated to keeping your carpets clean and long lasting. Excessively soiled carpets will greatly decrease the lifespan of carpet. With my services done to your carpet every 1-2 years as regular maintenance its life span will be maximized!

A few extra things to note. Due to high lead prices and distance in which I usually work I have a $100 minimum Job limit. So I will do at least $100 dollars worth of work for you.
I also have started to implement a small cancellation fee of $30 This is again due to high lead prices and to protect myself against “ghosting” customers.

Seth came out the same day to address stains on our dining room chairs. I also asked him to clean our couches, living room chairs, and sunroom sectional, which he included in the initial quote. The work quality is good, and he completed everything that same day. He is an efficient, effective communicator and very pleasant to work with, despite his Thumbtack ad including a note about not providing “free” estimates. That disclaimer is more about the high fees Thumbtack charges service providers, whether or not they get the job, than about Seth himself.
That said, there is room for improvement. The next quote I received, also from an upholstery cleaner on Thumbtack with availability the next morning, was $150 less than Seth’s. This is not an insignificant amount for most people. In addition, some important details should have been disclosed before providing the estimate. For example, the quoted price covers only the fronts of a piece. If a client wants the back of a chair or both sides of a cushion cleaned, the price increases. Had I known this before Seth was already at my home, I likely would have gone with the other company.
