With over 20 years of experience in the appraisal industry, you can expect a thorough, accurate, and reliable appraisal for your property. My credentials include Certified General Appraiser licenses in Virginia and Washington, D.C, and, a Certified Residential Appraiser license in Maryland. I am on the FHA Appraiser Roster and the ASC (Appraisal Subcommittee) National Registry. I am a seasoned Realtor in Northern Virginia. Michelle, the owner of JMJ RES has been my go-to appraiser for well over a decade. She is incredible at understanding the most detailed things that go into a complex appraisal. Has area knowledge also adds to her multidimensional reports, in my opinion there are just some things you need to intuitively understand about an area or a neighborhood and Michelle does. JMJ did an excellent job with our appraisal. We had a fairly tight timeline and JMJ delivered as promised. Availability for response to questions was excellent, as was a thorough discussion of areas we had inquired about with additional interest. Would gladly hire JMJ again. The fact the fee was very competitive was an additional bonus.

RUN AWAY from this one!!! Michelle was personable but she apprised my perfect/ high end cul-de-sac home @ $40,000 less than the same model 2 houses up the street,but with No high end finishes & 1,000 sq ft less living space that sold 31 months earlier-- & property values in the neighborhood had slightly increased. She valued my property $30,000 less than a house (sold 1 month before mine) with 2,000 sq ft smaller/ older former style/ 1 block over from mine next to a strip mall& facing a CVS parking lot According to her my house was worth less than HALF the neighborhood average. I can not more clearly say you should RUN AWAY from this appraiser.She ignored my questions & requests for her reasoning but she sure cashed my payment fast...I will happily talk to anyone who has questions about my experience with this appraiser

In response to the review left above, the information listed by Ms Clements regarding the properties which sold, her property characteristics, and the appraisal experience is inaccurate. Her intentions for hiring an appraisal was indicated to be a desire for an objective estimate of market value for her investment home, retrospectively as of the time of prior sale, as she was unsatisfied with her real estate agent and resultant sale price of her property. Based on information provided to me prior to her property visit, she made a case that seemed her real estate agent was inept and lacked integrity and that she was considering bringing a law suit against the parties as the sale price was below her expectation. The appraisal completed by me included extensive research and resulted in a slightly higher value than the prior transfer price. The client's opinion of value of her investment property is inflated and inaccurate based on current and recent historic market data. When the report was delivered I requested that she review the appraisal and that we discuss it so that I could explain the appraisal process and the market activity in her immediate area. She declined and did not contact me but she did respond via email with a list of grievances, and properties (some mis-characterized), many not factual, regarding the appraisal and I now also see this review. It is unfortunate that without understanding one would post such a review regarding my expertise and character. Her property was not nicer than those which sold higher and some were larger than hers. The property near a strip mall was affected by the commercial space yet the property was superior to hers. I have over 24 years experience in real estate appraisals in DC, MD, and VA and have never had such a response or issues with any of my appraisals in the past and am dismayed by the rush to judgment without understanding appraisal theory. Her dissatisfaction appears to be with the sale price of her investment property yet she has chosen to misconstrue it to be about her real estate agent initially and now me, the appraiser. I even called her to follow up and offer to discuss in further detail, prior to seeing this review, and told her I'd send a point by point email regarding the inaccurate information she has listed. I still intend to do so within the next few days but wonder if understanding the appraisal is even a possibility given her presumptions listed in a message to me and now here.

The pricing of each appraisal depends on the property type, the complexity of the property and time required to complete the assignment as well as based on the turnaround time requested by the customer.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We exchange contact and property information, then coordinate a date and time for the appraisal inspection to take place. After the appraisal appointment at the property, the process to completion takes between one and three days.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am certified in Virginia, Maryland, and Washington, D.C. I take continuing education classes regularly to stay informed about the appraisal industry. I also have more than 20 years experience as an appraiser in the Washington D.C. metro area.
