Rod performed for my family at Lake Gaston, NC. We were celebrating my brothers retirement and niece’s graduation from college. His set was about an hour full of funny, relatable, clean jokes as our ages ranged from 1 to 72. We all had a wonderful time! Would definitely call on him again!

He came to my event and did not tell any jokes! He ate and asked for a to go plate. He offended my guests when he asked 'is something wrong with him?' referring to a mentally handicapped child. He also made fake sign language movements when speaking to my guest who is the mother of two deaf boys. I paid for a one hour comedic monologue, and reviewed an additional guest I had to feed. I believe he took a personalized fan from the party that were for my guests. I don't know if he has jokes because I didn't hear any!!

I planned a 50th birthday party for my husband. I planned out every detail and decided to hire Rod Shannon as a comedian. He was very pleasant over the phone and arrived on time. However I hired him as a comedian. Needless to say I had approximately 80 guest in attendance and he did not get one laugh. They actually sand man him off the stage. I was very disappointed and reached out to him afterwards to get a response on what happened and he has yet to respond. Very disappointed and this was the talk of the entire party.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My pricing system depends on the type of work that is desired. If I am hired to host/MC an event, that's one price and if I am hired to headline, that's another. There are also additional costs that are involved if the client is requesting musicians. If you're interested in a duo or trio, that's one price and if your interested in a small ensemble, that's another.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I meet with the new customer to ascertain his or her particular need(s). I then advise the customer if I will be able to satisfy that need based upon the information that I have been given. Then, we fill out contracts and I receive a down payment. On the day of the event, I arrive early and make contact with the customer to ensure there are no changes to the original plan. Once the event is over, I receive the rest of my payment in full, thank the customer, and remind them to call on me and/or recommend me to others, if they were satisfied with my performance.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been performing standup comedy basically since I was old enough to talk and I have been acting about as long. I have been singing and playing musical instruments since the age of about 7 or 8. I have been playing drums on a professional level for over 30 years and I have a degree in Music Education. I have also performed professionally with the Army National Guard Band, of which I was a member for over 24 years.
