Ive been in the construction/remodeling business for 15 years. I enjoy what i do and take pride in my work. I worked for a master troubleshooter for eleven years learning how water penetrates and prevention measures. I am a master level roofer, painter, caulker, sheet metal fabricator. My skill set doesnt end there and includes repairs in the areas of wood, concrete, gutters, and so much more. I also offer handyman services (including doing custom closets, build ins, pantries, etc), shelf/picture hanging, furniture assembly etc... its extremely important to me to have happy clientelle through the whole phase of a job no matter how big or small. My goal is to one day soon be doing 90% of my work for return customers and referrals.

Richard immediately responded to our Thumbtack request to fix a kitchen cabinet that was falling. He immediately gave us an idea of price to expect. He kept us up to date with his arrival time. He was a professional throughout, and we would definitely hire him again.
Richard responded very quickly and got our gutters repaired the next day. He did great work was very knowledgeable and professional.

I contacted Richard along with some other Pros on Thumbtack to install an HD antenna at my residence. Richard responded immediately and we quickly arranged to schedule the work. Richard was working another job before my appointment and I appreciate his communications as he provided updates concerning his arrival time (he arrived early) When Richard arrived we briefly discussed the job. He was attentive to understanding how I wanted the antenna and cabling installed. My planning for this project was not perfect, but I must say, Richard is a great problem solver. I could not be happier with the project result and I’m delighted to have met him. I highly recommend Richard, he is terrific.

My husband and I were extremely pleased with Richard’s work. We have a large 2 story house with a metal roof. We wanted to have Christmas lights put up on the roof. It’s hard finding somebody to do a job like that. Richard was willing to travel a bit of a distance to take on this job. He did an excellent job! He was also very clever. He came up with a great and yet unconventional idea to affix the lights to our roofline. Richard was great with communicating with us. He was prompt and responsive to getting the lights up before the weather got bad. We plan on hiring him soon to take care of other things around the house soon! We highly recommend his services!

Mr. Swink arrived on time with a helper. For the section of lights in the front he suggested a unique idea--use binder clips! The job was done perfectly, on time, and at a reasonable price. I will hire him again!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I am currently giving discounts from 25-50% of what a normal company would quote until I build a larger clientele base. It’s important for me to get my workmanship out in front of as many people as possible until I have a strong returning client and referral network.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Answering all questions as thoroughly and truthfully as possible. Making sure we are on the same page throughout the phase of the first project no matter how big or small. Everyone is different and misunderstandings are bound to happen so it’s important to get back on track immediately after a confusion. I want my customer to trust me 100%, feel comfortable around me, and appreciate my work.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In the construction/trades industry every day is an opportunity to learn something new. We have to be disciplined enough and have the desire to take advantage of those opportunities or otherwise we fell asleep in class. That being said I hold a fifteen year degree.
