We contracted with HEC for demo of our existing half bathroom and creation of a new half bathroom in a different location on the same floor. Our contract explicitly said "Demo of existing bathroom" among the other agreed to items. After creating the new bathroom, the team on site insinuated they were done. We reminded them that the old bathroom still had to be demo'd. After talking to Brett they said ok, came back next and removed the sink and toilet. We asked about the walls, floor, etc. and were told Brett told them they didn't have to do that. Upon talking to Brett he offered to remove walls but said it would be substantially more money. This was not inline with our conversations or our contract which included demo of the existing bathroom. We had solicited other contractors ,but chose HEC because their price was slightly more competitive (few hundred dollars). Had we known they were not going to complete the entire scope of work as quoted, we would not have selected them.
It is also worth noting that HEC has a handful of reviews that state a similar story of them not completing the full scope of work and sighting additional work that they did instead. In our instance they discovered they could not run the plumbing through the ceiling and would have to go through concrete floor. This was day 1 of project. We asked how much additional it would cost and to our surprise Brett said "I won't charge you", but then at the end of the project when we expressed our frustration over the complete scope not being performed, he brought the cost associated with the additional work they chose to perform up as one of the reasons.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! THEY ARE NOT ETHICAL. If you do, make sure your contract includes every detail and definition possible so they cant bait and switch.
