We had a wonderful experience. Our dog is 13 and ailing. He would not allow anyone to touch him. Our groomer approached Seth very calmly, spending a lot of time gaining his trust. We were impressed and grateful. Highly recommend!

Details: Large (41 - 70 lbs) • Thick, fluffy double-coat • 10 years or older • Anxiety • 6 - 12 months ago • Mobile grooming - in home • No additional dogs • Conducting initial research • The dog groomer travels to me

Mariel was a mix of quiet patience and efficiency. Tony, our large Goldendoodle, is young and spirited. We postponed once because I was afraid he’d be too rambunctious. We finally decided to bite the bullet this week. He did get over tired on day one, and a bit restless, but Mariel persevered for 3+ hours! She returned today and fine tuned his cut to perfection. I have new respect for groomers! I am so glad I chose an in-home groomer and equally happy it was Calming Cuts and Mariel!

Details: Extra large (70+ lbs) • Wavy or curly coat • 0 - 1 years old • Anxiety • Never • Dematting • Mobile grooming - in home • No additional dogs • Conducting initial research

Have a strong and stubborn, 16-year-old Samoyed with severe hip problems. His previous groomer had refused to deal with the hip problems because she was afraid of liability issues. Having someone come to the house was the answer. He was calm. He was mad about having a bath, but the Calming Cuts groomer certainly lived up to her name--good bath, got toenails clipped, clean doggie and very happy owner.

As another reviewer commented, I don't feel Mariel was fully prepared the day she came to our home to bathe our two dogs. Though nice she seemed a little overwhelmed the day she came to our home. For me, I thought she would arrive close to the scheduled time to go over each dog's information, personality, history, what was needed etc. Basically, for me this would be confirming information I sent and getting more detail as it was our first visit (but she was more than 30 minutes late and did not call/text to let me know she was running late). She did not make an attempt to touch them to see what was needed. Being more hands on as a groomer to feel them or even pet them. That is what I am accustomed to with their groomer(s), prior to moving to this area. They take the time to go over information "what has change" "what are we doing to today". Not sure if it was due to her being over-scheduled or in part though she asks for detailed information on client's dog prior to scheduling, were ours not what she expected once seeing them (which was part of not being prepared/scheduling issues) that she was thrown for a loop. She appeared overwhelmed. I shared on the client profile the size/weight of each dog. She was aware of the largest dog weight of the two yet she shared (when I went to help her with her things) she didn't have a table to accommodate his size. That isn't an issue for me. But truth be told, I didn't envision "at home baths" would mean a mess for me. This process should be: no stress for the dogs and little to no work for the owners. We brush them outside as well as inside and yes we know they are furry - that is why we don't let it BLOW around, to include outside. We don't make a mess. We wouldn't expect a "professional" making a first impression to either. She did proceed to give our largest dog a bath outside with a water hose and blow-dried him inside our house while brushing him. In the end, this is something we could do ourselves. When hiring a professional groomer to do this, we think they should avoid having fur blowing all over the house, as well as using proper tools while brushing a long haired dog. Unfortunately, we are now left with *more* fur on the carpeted areas in our home than previously, since a deshedding shampoo was not used and he was rushed with brushing due to her lack of time, not to mention he has matting at his ears and legs. Normally, a groomer spends 4 hours with him if not more due to the length of his fur. She was with him 1. This is due to the rushing along with her lack of prep prior to starting, having the prior grooming tools as well for him. I would have preferred she let me know she was not comfortable with her time allotted than to have rushed or if was the case not comfortable with our dog(s). There was no benefit to this bath. Now the fur all over our home. Due to her being late to our schedule appointment (thus the next) which then made her obviously rushed needing to hurry, she didn't have the time to clean the fur up. Given her nervous energy, I told her I didn't mind and would clean up. She didn't want to charge me, she told me she was going to come back to complete the job - which was the trimming of his paws. However, I didn't think that was fair as she still came out and provided a service. What is disappointing, however, she still hasn't followed-up to schedule to come back to complete the job. Given her lack of communication I am left to wonder if she has issues with scheduling or is overwhelmed with larger sized dogs. Based on the previous reviewer I would say it is larger dogs. In our particular case our dogs are not stressed to go to a groomer or older requiring at home services. Both enjoy getting baths actually and this was our first attempt to try a service that catered to coming to one's home. Both receive professional baths on a regular basis. Though nice...Mariel and the way she conducted her self and the services she provided for me, didn't feel like those from a professional organized established groomer. It was disappointing to be left to feel it was more on par with a high school student starting a summer at home business.
