Alyssa is a great piano teacher. She is professional, kind and very patient. I learned many things from her lessons and didn't feel stressful at all. When I have questions she always answers them very well. Unfortunately I could not continue having lessons with her due to the long commute distance. I feel really grateful for her recommendations about the future study materials that suit my level. Oh and it is also great fun to perform at the recital! Thank you Alyssa!

Great style of teaching. She makes you understand the minute details of the notes and the transitions and accents between notes with so much ease that it gets registered. I am happy to have learnt the basics of piano from her.

I decided to start playing the piano at age 34 and I couldn’t have found a better teacher. Alyssa is friendly, patient, and knows how to break down music so it’s easier to understand. She teaches out of the book, lets students bring in pieces when they’re ready, and knows how to keep her students engaged. Alyssa also helped me with my practice technique which gave me better results in the same amount of time. I highly recommend her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Private Lessons - Trial lessons are $50, and cancellations require a 24 hour notice. After the trial, scheduling, costs and materials will be discussed.
Performances - charged based on music selections, program length, travel expenses, etc. - one flat fee
Collaborations - rehearsals are charged hourly and there is a separate fee for concerts and/or auditions.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
This all depends on the level of the student. The process for a beginner versus the process for an experienced pianist will be very different. Even two students at a similar level will not be treated the same. As we work together and get to know one another, I find the best tools and methods that cater to the individual.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
My previous education and current pursuit of a doctoral degree, is in Piano Performance. My training prioritizes solo performance preparation, but also vocal/instrumental collaboration, and piano pedagogy. What thrills me through education is discovering the best tools that will ignite the imagination and bring us that much closer to authentic interpretation.
Ive worked with vocalists and instrumentalists over the past 15 years and began teaching privately at age 17. Since then my students and colleagues have taught me immensely! Im so grateful to every single person I've had the opportunity to work with. They make me a better teacher and musician. Education is lifelong.
