FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I got my first job with carpentry when I was only 14. It was really hard work at a backyard lumber mill, and I've been hooked since then. I have always done odd jobs, and grew up on a farm in Louisa County, so I learned to fix things by necessity. I worked for a contractor and custom home builder in high school and through college breaks. I graduated from Bridgewater College in 2008 right after the market crashed and no one was hiring. I spent a year or so driving between Richmond, Harrisonburg, and Washington DC staying with friends and trying to get interviews. Wherever I stayed, I would fix something as thanks for the meal and the couch. One evening I fixed a sink faucet that had not worked properly in years. The woman said, "You know Casey, you're good enough you could make a living doing this". So I stopped trying to find a job, and started working with what I had. Along the way, I have had tremendous opportunities to learn from different contractors I've worked for or partnered with. I have also built a personal reputation in the RVA area that I do what I say I'm going to do, and I value high quality communication. This has grown my referral base, and I continue to build their trust as I face new challenges and learn how to better serve my clients.

- Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
I recently did a job where there was some water damage that looked really bad at first. But when we opened up the wall, we were able to see that the it was less extensive than first expected and I gave a deduction from the initial quote. That seems simple enough, but the relationship with my clients is way more important to me than any profit could be.
