Pro: My initial consultation was seamless. We discussed at length the Playlist and break down of how I wanted the music to play for my wife's 40th birthday party. The day of the event, the dj came dressed appropriately and had a very thorough set up. Cons: Where things went disatastrouly wrong was the execution of services or lack thereof. The sound was completely off from the start. The music kept shifting and fading out and it was extremely noticeable to the point where my guests kept coming to me asking me to speak to the dj. Many times throughout the night myself and other party goers had to go to the dj and ask him to fix the sound and or turn the music up. During the most pivotal point of the night, (my wife's entrance song)the mix/ blend of two songs was so bad it was almost inconceivable. We spoke at length about how important the entrance was, and he over promised and under delivered. It seems as if he truly didn't have experience mixing or blending down songs into a proper transition. (the video of her entrance and how bad the mash up was is evidence enough) but it got worst.... the one song she requested to be played as her birthday song ended up being the wrong song completely and he never played the right one. On nearly every video recorded that night, you could clearly hear conversations over the music. To make matters worst multiple times throughout the set COMMERCIALS began to play over the music and I actually had to pull him aside and say something. The dj did make me aware that some of my requested songs had to be downloaded from you tube but to have multiple YouTube commercials playing over the music and in between songs the entire night was completely EMBARRASSING and amateur. I have hired many djs and I know music can be outsourced from many places. It is inexcusable to have experienced something like that. If you pay 11.99 you can have commercial free music on YouTube. It's a small investment, So if you ARE a dj using YouTube to play songs at the least you should be a subscriber. IMAGINE dancing to a song at a venue on someone's birthday and 2 minutes into the song it stops and a damn commercial plays! AND then this happens all night! My uncle ended up taking over the mic and got a soul train line going in an attempt to salvage the night. The last song played at 1155pm, per our messages and contract, his set was clearly 7-12am with the music winding down around 1130 to facilitate the guests departure as per my request. He actually tried to tell me his set was suppose to end at 11pm and charge me an additional $100. After that disatastrous performance I should've been getting money back let alone paying extra. I was extremely upset about that and the fact that he was waited on by my hired waitstaff (multiple unlimited drinks from the bar, food, Desserts etc.) And had the audacity to try to charge me erroneously which speaks to character. I refreshed his memory about what our contract stated, and he backed off about the extra charge. I also let him know the music was off and that the commercials were inappropriate to which he became defensive and unapologetic. Stating, I told you I had to get some music off of YouTube. The entire experience was a joke to say the least. I planned this party for well over 2 months and spent thousands making this an upscale occasion only to have the dj flop. I would absolutely never hire this individual again. For two days after the party I had to take calls from my guests complaining about how terrible the dj was. It was completely embarrassing.
