Erica did an awesome job with our horse illustration. She communicated with me numerous times and was willing to make any changes. She could not have been any easier to work with on a project.

I wanted to paint my dog on a cardholder as a gift to my boyfriend. Erica was an absolute pleasure to work with, and we love the result!! Even though Erica did not have any prior experience painting in leather, she did her research, got the necessary supplies and did a few sample paintings for me (one was done on leather) to make sure the painting will look good and will stay on the leather. We communicated frequently and she was always willing to make changes when I proposed them. Erica is super professional and her drawings are just beautiful and awesome!!

I had contacted Erica Bottger (http://www.ericapaints.com/) to have a painting commissioned for my Mother's 70th birthday. I had an idea to take one of my Mom's favourite pictures and have it done in the style of a classic Norman Rockwell painting. When I expressed my idea to Erica, she seemed to know instantly what it was I was looking for and I could tell she was excited to get started right away. Then the covid pandemic hit. Unfortunately, this lead to the cancellation of my Mom's birthday party and I had to ask Erica to put the work on hold. Erica had no problems accommodating this request and was an absolute joy to deal with during the early stages of a very confusing time for everyone. Thankfully things settled down on my end, I reached back out to Erica and she set to work right away. She kept me in the loop during the entire process, provided photos for updates on her progress and included me in the important early decisions regarding style and colours. It truly felt like a collaboration to help bring my vision to life. It is also worth mentioning that because of the pandemic, I asked Erica if we could change the shipping to send the painting directly to my Mom, since I wouldn't be able to go deliver it to her. Erica had no issues doing this for me and the painting was delivered in a timely manner. I wish I had a picture of the painting to attach. Maybe when this is all over I can get one and update this review. Either way, it came out great, my Mom loved it and the least I can say is that Erica helped bring some joy into our lives during a very trying time for everyone. If you need a painting done, I would definitely recommend Erica.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

It will vary greatly between projects since every project is unique. Personal use paintings will start at $200 for a 5"x7" while commercial work will start at $350 with rights and usages discussed. An example price for a personal painting 16"x 20"with one figure and plain background is $600

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

Once a customer explains what they need, I will do my best to figure out what size and medium will work best for their project. Once we have details nailed down, a contract is drafted up outlining what the project is and what it will be used for. Every customer gets a week's worth of thumbnails or small sketched that they can pick from for the final image. You will get periodic updates on the painting/ project and can suggest changes (up to 2 for free) so we can work together to make the best possible piece.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a degree in fine art with a concentration in painting and focused on Illustration during my school career. I attended the Illustration Academy in Kansas City and was taught by some of the best modern illustrators around. I have been freelancing for 6 years and help run an organization for artists to help them learn the basics of freelancing online.
