FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For standard tile I charge $3.50 per square foot in new/level and clean surfaces. Tile removal and leveling is between $3-9 per square foot depending on the severity of the area. I charge $11 per board of hardy backer or cement board on open framing or added over level surfaces. If the job must be completed extremely quickly I do charge additional fees. Intricate patterns may cost extra as well and I do not do intricate patterns on a rush job. The customer is responsible for the cost of materials though I do shop and deliver for a 10% up charge. For walkways and paver patios I charge $15-25 per square foot based on the type of terrain, size and weight of the selected tile/paver/stone, and the type of pattern. I do not accept rush jobs for patios/walkways. The customer is responsible for all material costs although I do shop and deliver for a 10% up charge. For handyman services I charge $50 per hour as well as a 10% up charge for materials.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically like to come see the area to be worked on before I ever make a final quote/estimate. I then like to send an email estimate that includes material estimates as well as labor time and time until completion. I always take every measurement and talk with the customer about materials needed for the look they desire and am flexible about the type of material I work with. (I won't use incorrect materials to save money no exceptions). I try to communicate often and as clearly as possible every day of the project and immediately explain any problems immediately while offering as many solutions as possible and allowing them to select what best fits their taste, budget, and timeframe.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I worked commercial construction for 4 years and residential for another 3 before opening my company.
