I am a professional with 15+ years’ experience as a legal asst, paralegal, proofreader, editor, and desktop publisher with strong admin skills. I have coordinated many large projects, RFP responses, legal filings, etc. I edited several novels and transcription work. Latest projects were a self-help novel and educational software. My background is primarily intellectual property and marketing, but my experience spans military/govt to medical/corporate. I'm an excellent writer with meticulous attn to detail. Type 120 wpm, miss nothing in proofing, with a strong creative side. I offer a well-rounded set of skills and an outgoing can do attitude. I have great references. I am available right away. About me, I was a firefighter/EMT when diagnosed with cancer six years ago, getting back on my feet after a tough few years. I'm an artist. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Generally, there is a range for my hourly rate, but it does vary according to difficulty and detail of the project and what the project is. Proofreading has a different rate than doing admin-type work. However, I am always fair in my pricing and do not try to take advantage of a client.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First, I ascertain exactly what the client wants and expects, including turn around time. I am honest with the client about the my ability to meet both the expectations and deadline. I keep in touch with the client throughout the project process so they are comfortable in knowing their work is being addressed and moving along nicely.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certified paralegal - Firefighter/EMT-B - college degree in English writing - many advanced computer courses to develop my high level of computer skill
