We also provide plain language terminology and explanations for the client, so they understand exactly what the problem(s) are with a scope of what work is normally required to have the problem fixed. If exploratory work is required, we will mention this in the report, which will be addressed by the contractor at the time of the quotation (and we can attend this work on behalf of the client to ensure only the necessary work that is required is being charged). The client then can seek quotations from contractors and use our report and summation to compare what services are or are not being quoted by the contractors. This way, they are not going into a major repair of their home, which can cost a lot of money, without having at least a basic understanding of what is wrong and what needs to be fixed and what doesn't. I have over 37 years of experience in the construction engineering technology field, with 12 years directly in residential and commercial construction of underground structures (i.e. basements, tunnels, foundations, waterproofing, and drainage). I also have extensive experience with matters related to home warranty programs, building codes, and construction practices. We also provide complete building inspections, as well as on all parts of the home for new home buyers, real estate agents, used homes for potential buyers/sellers, freehold townhomes, and category specific inspections for almost any building or construction project. If the client wishes, we can prepare a complete scope of work for the repairs on their behalf and assist them during the repair phase to ensure that the scope of work being done is to specification, and that it meets all applicable building codes and construction standards.
