We asked Travis to come out to give our slow running laptop a tune-up and to check why my iPad wasn’t holding its WiFi connection. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Most jobs are fixed-price, and you get a confirmed quote before any work begins. Common packages: new computer setup from $149, data transfer from $125, printer setup from $95, home office setup from $199, and whole-home mesh Wi-Fi from $249 (hardware at cost). Troubleshooting is $95 per hour with a one-hour minimum, and a small remote fix is $45 flat. Not sure what's wrong? A $49 Residential Tech Review gives you a written assessment, and the $49 counts toward the work if you go ahead within 7 days. Parts and hardware are extra. A $25 trip charge applies only beyond 10 miles and is waived when you approve the work. Veterans and military members get 10% off labor.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I will also fully explain in detail what I plan on doing. I will not use jargon, because I know that will only throw people off. Picture a lawyer using words like "Prima Facie" or "Habeas Corpus." All you want to know is what is being done with your equipment.
We will plan a time and date that works around your schedule, and I come to you. Many issues can also be handled remotely, which is often the fastest option.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Bachelor's degree in computer science and over 15 years of professional IT experience, including U.S. Army service. Current certifications: Microsoft 365 and CompTIA Security+.
