Introduction: I have a particular interest in special diets. I am a proud Mother of a type 1 diabetic child and I intimately understand the relationship of food and it's effects on the body. I also have had the longest standing personal chef business in the Richmond area. I am well versed in gluten-free, soy free, MSG free, dairy free, and diabetic diets, as well as international cuisines and method cooking. Making my clients lives easier by providing healthy choices that they truly appreciate. From knowing that my special diet customers are getting the foods that they need at the end of their long days instead of trying to find limited options at restaurants to providing old family recipes to my senior citizen clients that they can no longer cook themselves, it's very satisfying to make a difference. I also like cooking at dinner parties which allow the hostess to relax and have a good time. I become not only the chef that provides the dinner, but also the entertainment for the night! Cooking classes are more intimate and interactive and I thoroughly enjoy educating people about food and cooking techniques and tricks of the trade.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Most of my business comes from clients that use my services on a schedule. Two of my clients have used my service for over 6 yrs. and one is going on their second year. I have had many long term clients over the past 6 yrs. that I have been in business. I have also cooked short term for new Mothers, people who have fallen ill, elderly couples who could no longer cook, but did not want to move to assisted living, and as a special gift. I have several repeat customers that I do dinner parties for. I have provided cooking lessons for The Fresh Market grocery store for 2 yrs. and love providing classes in homes for a "girls night in" or couples party.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

To be very clear on what they want their nutrition requirements to be, if any. What is their main objective of hiring a personal chef (to follow a diet, to save time, to have home cooked, non-processed meals). Look at their current spending restaurant meals and grocery foods. Look at the amount of waste from buying foods, but not cooking them and having the throw them away. If you are finding that you are not eating right, are spending a lot of money eating restaurant foods, are having trouble with portion control, or are throwing food away, you would benefit greatly from a personal chef!
