Introduction: I have been designing since 2007 when I graduated from the Interior Design program at VCU. Since then I have worked in both the residential and commercial sector and approach every project with one main goal in mind: to help each client maximize the function of each space in a way that speaks to their unique style and budget needs. I firmly believe every person deserves to love their home, so I have intentionally kept my rates at a price the average person can afford. I enjoy exploring a variety of styles and methods including repurposing existing materials and furniture to give new life to a home. I also have 8 years experience working for furniture retailers and can offer insight into what manufacturers have to offer and which ones would be the most appropriate in each circumstance. This ensures that each dollar is spent wisely and with the complete design picture in mind. I love getting to know each client’s unique personality and lifestyle in order to ensure the end result meets their needs and reflects their life in a welcoming, stunning way to each guest.

Abi is wonderful! She takes the time to listen and understand your situation, what you like, what you need and finds a way to continue to keep your goals moving forward. She is extremely patient and amazing at what she does! We recently moved and I have many items from our old house I’d like to use, but our design in completely different and I had no idea how to incorporate them. She has helped in nearly every room of our house and keeps me on track and focused (which is nearly an impossible task). We haven’t had to make many purchases so far and found a way to to repurpose nearly all major furniture items in a way I could not have done myself! My husband even appreciates her opinions and asks for advice, which is a tremendous compliment. She is extremely personable and professional and finds a way to understand what I’m saying or trying to describe and helps bring those ideas to life. I cannot recommend Abi enough for any and all of your interior design needs!

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge hourly and not by the project, this way both the client and I get a fair deal.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I typically begin each project at the home where I like to listen to my client express their concerns and goals for each space. Then I document the needed dimensions and take before pictures. At a follow up meeting I review with my client the estimated hours it will take to complete the project and the estimated cost. It is also at this meeting that I share some concept images with the client to make sure we are speaking the same design “language” and are on the same page design wise.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have a bachelors degree in Interior Design and experience working in both the architectural realm and the furniture retail realm. This gives me the ability to source materials and home furnishings from an insider’s vantage point and thus save my client time and resources.
