About
Bullen and Sons, LLC is a licensed and insured "Home Improvement Contractor" (meaning we're licensed for roofing, siding, framing, finish carpentry, flooring, tile, masonry, concrete, decks/porches, etc...). We're also a Veteran Owned Small Business, which basically just means we served in the Marine Corps and don't earn a billion dollars each year. While we strive to offer the most competitive and transparent pricing, choosing a contractor (like a realtor, auto mechanic, dentist, etc.) is a relationship, and our advice is to always pick the company that you feel most comfortable with.

We hired Mr. Bullen to power wash and stain our deck and front porch. Both were in pretty bad shape. Plus, a few boards needed to be replaced. Communication was spot on as well as price. Howard did an excellent job and we could definitely recommended him.
Thanks Howard.

Howard did incredible work in our home, completely changed the look of our house and now it finally looks finished and beautiful. We recently renovated our home but were behind on a few projects and decided to go with a contractor to finish up what we had left to do in the house. We had a large project of installing all new baseboards, door castings and trim to the lower level of house, some sheetrock repair as well as painting the doors, stair railing, and master bedroom. Howard responded quickly and professionally and met with us for an estimate. He gave us the most fair and best quote of any of the contractors we met with and we couldn't be happier that we went with Bullen and Sons. They completed the several projects in only two days and left our house spotless. Howard was very easy to talk to, very kind, just a genuine and respectful person making it a truly pleasant and stress free experience for us. The quality of the work he did in our home is amazing, our house now looks better than I ever thought it could look, we finally have peace of mind with no more DIY projects to try to complete that would have taken us weeks or months to try to figure out on our own or find time in our schedule to complete thanks to Howard. He was very accommodating of our schedules, roommates and even checked in our kitties to make sure they were okay, that spoke volumes to me to show what kind of person he is and the quality of business he runs,. We would recommend them to any and everyone who needs projects done in their home, we can't thank you enough!!
Details: Casing • Baseboards • Drywall • No, I will need the carpenter to provide the molding or trim • This is just an installation job - no design needed • As recommended by carpenter • 41 - 80 ft • I would like it painted

Fabulous experience with Bullen & Sons...they cleaned and re-stained/re-painted my front porch, and it looks better than new! Communication was prompt and responsive. Will hopefully be hiring them for other jobs in the future. Highly recommend!

Howard did a great job and was able to handle my project in short notice. The replaced boards need to be painted but Howard explained I should wait for 6 months to season rather than just trying increase the scope of the job.

Had a really great experience with Howard! We reached out to have our deck primarily stained but expecting some repairs. Howard contacted me quickly, gave me a quote based on some detailed pictures, and completed the work within a few days. I thought the price was very fair for the comprehensive service (power wash, replace some damaged boards, stain and seal, materials, and haul away of old boards). They also did not rush the process and chose to postpone by a couple of days when we had a humid day and a drizzle another day. I hope to use them for additional projects!
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
Rates are always negotiable! When quoting on work through Thumbtack, especially if the job description is vague or there is no picture of the work area, pricing needs to almost assume a "worst case" scenario. But if cost is a primary concern, we're always open to negotiating and coming up with ways to help reduce cost - whether that is the customer purchasing the materials or having flexibility on start times.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
When at all possible, it's always best to meet and look over the work that needs to be done. This helps to reduce and uncertainty about expectations, but it's always best to put a face to the name!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Eight years as a Combat Engineer in the Marine Corps and a lifetime of home repairs! But more importantly, Bullen and Sons is a licensed Home Improvement Contractor
