Time to get on with our lives and plan for a future. It's great to be able to envision an exciting path ahead for every person and to know that each will succeed! $75/hour I am available 6 days a week. I work online afternoons and evenings, so I can usually help me no matter where you are. How may I help you? I am in Virginia and accomplish most tutoring via Skype or Zoom. I will work hard to make sure you or your student are successful! I work with kids and adults of all ages from all over the world; I love both the diversity and the challenges. I tutor most topics though am specialized in - SAT, ACT, and other test prep - Writing - Middle school, high school, and college entrance essays and exams. Education: I have degrees in science and engineering from Michigan State and Cornell Universities. My highest degree is an M.S. in Civil Engineering. Experience: A homeschooling parent K-12, I also help students understand and write for their college and graduate courses, working in diverse fields such as accounting, teaching, business, psychology, and philosophy. I trained with Kaplan as a test prep instructor and now have over 30 years of experience tutoring. Writing & Editing: Copyediting books, formatting them, and helping their authors go from concept to completed project is a task I really enjoy. I also write poetry and prose and am an award-winning author. I tech write and edit in APA, USGS, MLA, CMS, among others. It is not unusual for students who have asked for help with their college entrance essays to have gotten into their 1st choice schools, including UCLA and Yale, among others. Helping students crystallize their experiences into great pieces inspires me as I get to know them, and to watch their pride and self-confidence blossom.
