When you enroll your dog in one of our programs, your dog will learn to: stop pulling on the leash, no longer jump on people, end their "selective hearing," and so much more! We offer both private lessons in your home and day training options. Puppy programs are also available. My passion for dog training came during my career as a law enforcement officer. With over a decade of experience assisting K-9 handlers and training in Search and Rescue, I have the rewarding experience of having helped many owners lessen their frustrations and anxiety by improving their dog’s behavior. We would leave Laura 10 stars if we could! She is a consummate professional in every way: her training, attitude, patience, communication, respect, and on-time arrival. Absolute Angel Dog Training, under Laura's leadership, offers 3 different training programs, depending on one's needs. We opted for the weekly at-home visits for our miniature poodle, Cutler. Cutler, an 8-month old puppy, needed to learn the basics - sit, stay, off, down, drop-it, touch, come, and a version of heel. My husband and I needed to learn the language that would keep that training in place while understanding how dogs think and what makes them more likely to respond. Between Laura's visits, we used her clear, concise methods to teach Cutler all of the things we wanted him to know. Laura came prepared with print-outs, sent videos, and provided us with tracking tools. She demonstrated training methods and walked us through carrying them forward between sessions. Now, Cutler doesn't jump on visitors, he comes/sits/stays on our command, drops items we don't want in his mouth, and immediately gets off of furniture we don't want him to jump on. We no longer have to worry that Cutler will run into danger or become an uncontrolled nuisance when we travel or take him out of his home environment. Thank you, Laura, for helping Cutler and us enjoy each other so much more!

I worked with Laura with my new Mastiff pup. She understood my family's goals and concerns for behaviors that are unacceptable, especially for big dogs. The training was laid back but very effective and personalized for our specific needs and requests! I'm happy to report that my pup is polite and with consistent work with the skills Laura taught us she will only get better!

We adopted a six year old Shih Tzu named Stanley who came to us will somewhat severe behavioral issues. We sought Laura's help and enrolled Stanley in Absolute Angel's Good Dog Program. Laura was fantastic. Responsive, knowledgeable, flexible and professional, she listened to our concerns and provided a plan that would enable us to reset some learned bad behaviors. We received so many good resources and created an "Owner's Manual" for our little guy and included notes from our training sessions, which we were conveniently able to do both in person and remotely. We really appreciated her knowledge and guidance. She knows dogs. You would be well served to enlist her services. She can help create stability and harmony in your home and contentment for your fur babies.

I chose to have Laura help us with our dog Kya because we were desperate to help her feel better and know that positive reinforcement training is the way to go for any dog reactivity rather than punishment based training. When I talked with her on the phone, she really cared about my dog's well-being and mental state as well as mine! Those things are what won us over for sure! As for how my dog was before and after: Kya is a shepherd mix puppy who wasn't properly socialized as a young puppy, so she exhibited fear of people, especially when they approached head on or startled her. She would bark at people in the hallway of our apartment complex as well as in the parking lot whenever we would take her outside. It was difficult to live with because it would wake people up if she barked at early or late hours, and it would scare other people who don't like large dogs that bark. But Kya was the most scared, and I hated seeing her so nervous whenever we left the apartment. If we hadn't done this program, we would still be dealing with this and Kya would still be suffering emotionally. Since completing the program, we can walk Kya down the hallway and she won't be scared of people! She is excited to greet strangers and doesn't mind existing in the same space as other humans! We can have actual guests over to our place because she will become friends with them now! I would say we have the opposite problem now, where she is starting to love greeting people too much, but it is not a bad problem to have as it will be easy for us to train some neutrality! I'm just so thankful she is not fearful anymore. This is not a miracle fix; it takes lots of hard work and your dog may take longer than Kya did. But it will happen over time, you'll start to see your once terrified dog becoming interested in meeting people and forming friendships with people outside of their family. I also found myself becoming more confident in handling my dog and communicating with her better! I feel like we understand each other better and have a closer bond than before. If your dog struggles with fear based or excitement based (or even aggression based) reactivity I would recommend Laura over any other trainers in the area! She truly cares about you and your dog's mental state. Please let Laura help your dog overcome their reactivity, it's what is best for them!

I started over 20 years ago assisting police K9 handlers with their training and trained my own dogs in Search and Rescue and as a Therapy Dog.
