Mr. Hill was VERY quick to respond to my request. I met him within 24 hours of my request. He started the job within a few days, and worked until the project was finished. NOT one day here and one day there. He removed a lot of wallpaper, treated the walls for paint, and finished the walls beautifully. His technique produced very clean edges and smooth surfaces on very challenging walls. His professionalism is abundant. He clearly loves what he does and strives to produce the very best results possible. Additionally, he aims to please his customer. I am a realtor and have recommended him many times and will continue to use him as my "go to" painter.

Absolutely amazing experience. It's hard to put into one short review how incredible Jason and his team are. Both he and Oliver went above and beyond to help me surprise my wife on her birthday with a bathroom remodel. Who would have though you could strip wallpaper, prep drywall, prime, paint, install plumbing, put in fixtures and help with everything else that goes into a bathroom remodel in one day? Well these guys made it happen and had smiles on their faces the whole time. You can really tell they love what they do and man do they do it well. Jason was extremely responsive throughout the process, and offered me his advice on so many things, even offered all of his tools I needed for things like sanding the cabinets and hanging mirrors and fixtures. If you are looking for any sort of handymen around the house or local business DO NOT HESITATE to contact Jason, this guy knows his stuff and is very good at what he does. I can't say enough how happy I was working with HHH. Thanks again Jason!

Colleen Gill did an excellent job wallpapering my bathroom. She was on time each day, went to work immediately, advised me of next step at the end of day and when job was completed cleaned up more than was necessary.. Mrs Gill is a perfectionist and it shows! I love my bathroom wallpaper. I am proud to show it off. What a professional,- I would recommend her to anyone!

this was my very first thumbtack experience and I am hooked! randy installed some wallpaper for me in our very old home (1905) on plaster walls that had definitely seen better days. he was on TIME (a rarity), respected my home, responded to my questions quickly and did an outstanding job hanging the paper. I thought the price was very reasonable as well. I have already recommended him to four of my friends & family. :)

Glenn was great to work with. He provided an estimate when he looked at the job. He returned my calls. When the wallpaper came in, he was prompt in scheduling the work. The job is done. He was on time, courteous, and he did a great job!

Oscar and Josh were both professional and friendly. That kept me informed of what they were doing and why throughout the day. I had a time-sensitive job -- basically one day to strip wallpaper (really glued on wallpaper) off drywall and then get it ready for painting (skin it and sand it) and they did a very good job.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is the best way to remove wallpaper?

There are several proven methods for wallpaper removal; each has its pros and cons, but some are definitely easier. Peeling is usually the least painful, followed by soaking and stripping. Dry-stripping is the next most time-consuming, and steaming the most work. The average wallpaper removal job costs between $360 and $560. The method of removal can affect the cost, as steaming takes longer than peeling and will therefore typically cost more. Peeling wallpaper off is usually the quickest method. To see if your wallpaper can be peeled off, try gently edging up a corner and carefully peeling the paper off the wall in strips. If you can’t peel, then you’ll have to score and strip it, either by dry-stripping or by soaking and then stripping. Plaster walls can withstand moisture and can stand up to soaking and stripping, but drywall should not be soaked. For very stubborn wallpaper, steaming may be necessary, which is time-consuming but effective. If you prefer not to attempt these methods yourself, wallpaper removal pros have the proper tools and experience to quickly take down wallpaper and also repair any damage to your walls.

How much does it cost to remove wallpaper in a room?

The national wallpaper removal cost averages $360-$560, which will typically include multiple rooms. Pros often charge by the square foot to remove egregious wallpaper that is long past its prime. Wallpaper removal cost may range anywhere from 60 cents to $1.50 or more per square foot. A pro may estimate removal costs ranging between $160 and $300 for a medium-sized room. Costs can vary due to ceiling height, and some pros add a skim coat to make repainting or re-papering smoother. Here are some examples of average costs to remove wallpaper:

    • Foyer: 36-120 square feet, $21.60-$180.
    • Powder room: 16-36 square feet, $9.60-$54.
    • Living or dining room: 120-252 square feet, $72-$378.
    • Family room: 192-384 square feet, $115.20-$576.
    • Bedroom: 100-224 square feet, $60-$336.
    • Guest bath: 45-84 square feet, $27-$126.
    • Master bedroom: 168-384 square feet, $100.80-$576.
    • Master bath: 54-160 square feet, $32.40-$240.

Once the old wallpaper is gone, the average cost to install new wallpaper is $240-$350.
