I needed to recover data from my laptop’s hard drive. I dropped it off at Barnabas for a diagnosis and was informed that they would call me the next day. However, the technicians were not on site that day so they called me two days later with the information and an estimate of $499 for the job. I agreed that they proceed with the job so they took down my credit card information, assuring me that they would not charge it unless the job was successful. After a few days of hearing nothing from the company, I called for an update and they assured me they were still working on it, but that I could not speak with the technicians because they were not on site. However, they promised to call me the day following. They didn’t. I called again two days later and was transferred to the technician who told me they were still working on it and that he would call me or email with an update the next business day. He didn’t. A few days later, I saw that my credit card had been charged two days ago, and that I had neither received a status update, nor been informed that the job had been finished, so I called again. They told me the job was done and that they would have my drives ready for me to pick up that day. I drove out. They had my external hard drive (that I had provided for the recovered data to be transferred) ready for me, but not my laptop. The receptionists could not find the laptop or the keys to the storage where they supposedly keep the devices. I waited for a long time. When they finally found the keys, they went to the storage but could not find the laptop. They called the technicians and finally apologized and asked if I would please stop by and pick up the laptop the following Monday, or that they could drop it off at my house. This time, they did drop it off on Monday. All in all it took three weeks to repair, a lot of money, lots of phone calls and emails on my behalf, and a lot of time waiting. For the amount they are charging, I expected better service. They did, however, recover most of my data.
Barnabas Data Recovery's reply
As is the case with this customer's job, data recovery is a process that can take time. Unfortunately, there are no shortcuts. This thorough process led to a strong recovery for the customer. We do pride ourselves on our service so we are sorry we mistakely forget to package her laptop. Because of this oversight we drove her laptop to her house the next business day.

Barnabas did an outstanding job recovering our lost family photos and documents that we thought were gone forever. We shopped around and found them to be very reasonably priced. We also like their dilligence and service. They called us three times in one week to keep us up-to-date. We highly recommend them.

So far I'm not impressed. I dropped off the drive last Wednesday, was told I would hear back in 1 to 2 days, and have gotten no feedback at all. I hope their technical expertise is better than their communications.
