I'm a Japanese-American classical pianist from Virginia. I've performed at the Lincoln Center in New York, the Kennedy Center in DC, and Suntory Hall in Japan. I can teach in both English and Japanese (although my Japanese is not very good). I just moved back into the DMV area a few years ago and I hope to be more active in the scene here over the next few years(:
Over the last 10 years, I have taught over 400 children and adult learners across NYC, Southern California, and the DMV area. I'm currently a faculty member at Levine Music, where I teach at the Silver Spring and the West Falls Church campus. I enjoy working with musicians of all ages and backgrounds and seeing improvement and progress. Beginner piano lessons will focus on basic note-reading, theory, developing proper technique, and musical understanding. I host two studio recitals every year and I encourage everyone to participate. Performance and sharing music is an important part of playing an instrument.
Students must own a keyboard or piano at home to practice on, and need to bring a ringed binder for materials outside the curriculum books. That's about it.
