My wife and I attended a free weights class at a Fairfax rec center led by Ben. We so enjoyed Ben's instruction. Friendly demeanor and well versed in all the exercises he demonstrated and then observed. We felt the classes were well organized with warmup, various weights and exercises, and a warm down. Each week focused on a different topic of exercise that built off the previous week's class. Ben would follow up with written listing of what we learned so we could start to build out a plan to use at home.We highly recommend Ben as a fitness trainer and his classes.

I met Ben at the South Run Recreation Park when I signed up for a class ( Weight training for 60 years old and plus). Ben was wonderful and understood that sometimes modification is the answer when working out. He is extremely knowledgeable, supportive, and seriously a nice person. I have had personaltrainers in the past that didnt understand that every client is different. As we age, we need to find activities that we like and will pursue. Ben gets that and he promotes finding the exercise that you will like to stay active. I would give him 10 stars on the scale of 1-5.

Ben is a great teacher and motivator. He was always punctual and came to weight training class with a positive attitude. He not only covered weight training ,but other important aspects like stress management, sleep, and diet. I liked how the class progressed from teaching us how the equipment worked to developing our own exercise programs. As we became more independent Ben was always there to answer questions or offer suggestions. You can tell Ben loves what he does at South Run Rec Center.

I had a fitness plan consultation with Ben, and it was fantastic! First, scheduling with him was very convenient for my schedule. He walked through my goals with me, then my fitness activities. He was able to break things down very understandably. He gave me good advice (for me nutrition was a key), and followed up with a great product summarizing our discussion that I refer back to. I feel like I've got a better handle on what I can do to reach my goals. I never felt talked down to; rather, the whole thing was quite empowering. Highly recommend!

FAQs
What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I will provide you my hourly rate. However, what the services look like is entirely up to you - how often to meet, in person vs. virtual, full workout vs. short check-in. What your particular needs are to reach your goal may mean that you don't need 4 x 1-hr workout sessions per week, but rather regularly scheduled check-ins to keep you on task and update your homework.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
We get on an immediate call to talk through your goals, preferences, and challenges. From there we determine the training and coaching you need, including location, frequency, and type of workouts, nutrition guidance, and other factors. Then we dive in!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I am a certified personal trainer with certificates in nutrition coaching and corrective exercise by the American Council on Exercise. Further, I am a mechanical engineer with bachelors and masters degree, so have a strong technical basis to pull from.
