What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I love all things design and construction. I am consistently either watching other design professionals on TV, reading the magazines, or researching the code websites. If you love your work then you want to do it right.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started in the family business and when my Dad decided we had enough of our own properties that he wanted to focus only on that side of the business, I branced off and started my own company. I enjoy interfacing with the customer.
What types of customers have you worked with?
We do a lot of custom painting, exterior repairs and painting, interior design, renovations, flooring, kitchen's and baths, basements etc.
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
We are proud of all of our jobs. Not one dissatified customer yet.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Try to compare apples to apples. If one contractor breaks the estimate down to labor and materials like our company and the cost is slightly higher but another contractor does not break down costs ask the other contractor for the breakdown. In most cases the labor charges could be the similar or even lower but the higher contractor may use quality materials and the other may not. Quality materials benefit the customer and allows strong contractors like myself to warranty our work. This part of the estimate is more for the customer than the contractor.
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Anyone can paint but few customers understand that your house should have a color story and you have to coordinate colors from room to room. It pays to use a professional.
