Responds within a day

Introduction: We are a full service Home Performance Contractor. We begin our interactions with customers with a no cost evaluation of their homes that includes a blower door test, thermal imagery, air flow testing, and a detailed inspection to focus in on the root causes of the problems they seek to correct in their homes. Simply put, our diagnosis leads to a solution of the right problem, not selling you a product. Once we determine the right course of action to solve the problem, we can perform the work too! The most enjoyable part of our job is to hear customers say things like, "I didn't know that about my home!" "Why didn't my heating and cooling professional tell me that?" "I didn't even know that could be fixed." We have the ability to solve comfort issues in homes that nobody else can solve...Things like: -Hot/Cold Rooms- -Drafty areas- -Dusting too often -HVAC running 24/7- -High Utility Bills - -Cold Floors -Musty Odors -Wet Basements -Nasty crawl spaces

Insulation Installation or Upgrade

Comfenergy did a very thorough consultation and showed us many areas we could improve. We elected to do our attic insulation, have a bathroom vent redirected, and update the insulation in our unfinished basement through them. They got the job done very quickly.

Home Waterproofing

I called to obtain an estimate for a property that is being remodeled and was told that they dont help with properties that are new construction or being remodeled...I have never heard of this before, and my assumption is this they target existing home owners with higher prices...
Comfenergy's reply
We provide a high level of customer service to the customers that engage with our company. Part of that is based on our steadfast commitment to meeting installation dates we provide customers. We have found that customers working in a remodel environment often have installation date requirements that shift and change due to other contractors who are working on other parts of the project who do not meet their installation dates. We have found that remodeling customers often call last minute to delay our work, or call and require us there before we can work them into our schedule in order for them to achieve their remodeling project completion dates. As a company we have decided that it is more important for us to be able to consistently meet our installation commitments than to try to accommodate the shifting requirements of clients engaged in remodeling. This is what our Appointment center attempted to communicate to you. Our pricing is competitive, transparent, and the same for anyone who calls us. So your assumption on our pricing would be incorrect. Please review our google reviews and other testimonials to see that we are committed to Customer Service. John LeVan, Partner

Insulation Installation or Upgrade

Extremely deceptive behavior displayed by John L-be very cautious if someone is not willing to discuss numbers, as a consumer I plan to report to BBB and VA SCC. As a business owner I’m happy to discuss numbers-since everyone works within a budget even the great USA! Oorah!!!
Comfenergy's reply
Our company policy is to not provide estimates over the phone without inspecting the property. We arrived at this approach when customers were disappointed by "Ball Park Figures" based on incomplete information provided by them over the phone. Our estimates are detailed and provided on the same day that we visit your property. Our estimates are free of charge. All we ask for in exchange is your time to allow us to do a complete and thorough evaluation of the property to provide an accurate estimate.

We had a rather large mixed project of renovation and basement build, which included just about every craft trade; and Comfenergy pulled all the pieces together for us. They did a good job cleaning up along the way and afterwards, we also received a certificate for a cleaning service. Comfenergy kept the job site safe throughout my project. Since we were still living/working in the house during the project, there was constant communication to make sure everyone knew what was going on. We were in constant communication via email, phone and text with the John and all of the workers. I am satisfied with the quality of materials used. All of the materials were of great quality. I am satisfied with the quality of the workmanship. With this large renovation there were very few things that needed attention, and Comfenergy did a great job addressing them to make sure the final product was to our satisfaction and remained professional throughout my project. John and all of the workers were very professional, realistic and organized. Expectations were managed upfront and each part of the project was executed a balanced order. We had several phases to our project to ensure life balance during the construction. Our schedule was flexible and they worked with us every step of the way to get things done safely and correctly. There was a lot of work and scheduling that went in to our project. And so far with some of the hot/humid days that we've had, the house is comfortable and their are no signs of duct sweating in the walls. John went above and beyond for our family to make sure everything was done right so we won't have any future issues. He treated us more like family than customers, and made sure we were happy with everything. Comfenergy came up with a great plan and they were flexible with us when we wanted to add things along the way. We were in constant communication and all of my thoughts, ideas, concerns, questions were received, thoughtfully discussed and executed well.

I am very happy to receive this review. The project was beyond the scope of what we normally do, and there were a few times where we relied on the patience of the home owners to allow us to come up with solutions. I wish that every human being I came in contact with was as easy to get along with as Earl, his wife and daughter. It was a joy to work on their home. So happy that they are pleased with our efforts! Sound Proofing

Everything went well with the Sound Proofing of the CFO Office. She has been so impressed with the silence she now leaves her door cracked just a little to hear what is going on outside now. LOL go figure.

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Yes, we have over 100 solutions that we sell. We have standard pricing for each of these solutions based on unit pricing per square foot, per board foot, per linear foot or for each item depending on the solution.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We begin every interaction with a free evaluation of their property to understand their goals and what needs to be done to accomplish them. We end this initial interaction with a detailed proposal that shows what we are going to do, what sequence it needs to be done in, and how much the list of tasks will be.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

We have Mechanical Engineers, HVAC professionals, and BPI (Building Performance International) Envelope Specialists on hand to develop a well informed plan of attack for our project proposals.

Not what you’re looking for?

No problem: we have pros for every job.
