Introduction: We care for established lawns by mulching, aerating, weeding, grubbing and removing thatch, trimming and edging around flower beds, walks, and walls. We mow and edge lawns using power mowers and edgers. We plant seeds, bulbs, foliage, flowering plants, grass, ground covers, trees, and shrubs. We apply mulch for protection, using gardening tools. We decorate gardens with stones and plants. We follow planned landscaping designs to determine where to lay sod, sow grass, or plant flowers and foliage. We gather and remove litter. We haul or spread topsoil and spread straw over seeded soil to hold soil in place. We maintain irrigation systems, including winterizing the systems and starting them up in spring. We plan and cultivate lawns and gardens. We prune and trim trees, shrubs, and hedges, using shears, pruners, or chain saws. We rake, mulch, and compost leaves. We trim and pick flowers and clean flower beds. We water lawns, trees, and plants, using portable sprinkler systems, hoses, or watering cans. We advise customers on plant selection and care. We build forms, and mix and pour cement to form garden borders. We install rock gardens, ponds, decks, drainage systems, irrigation systems, retaining walls, fences, planters, and/or playground equipment. We maintain and repair tools, equipment, and structures, such as buildings, greenhouses, fences, and benches, using hand and power tools. We provide proper upkeep of sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fountains, planters, burial sites, and other grounds features. We shovel snow from walks, driveways, and parking lots, and spread salt in those areas. We use irrigation methods to adjust the amount of water consumption and to prevent waste. We care for artificial turf fields, periodically removing the turf and replacing cushioning pads, vacuuming and disinfecting the turf after use to prevent the growth of harmful bacteria. We care for natural turf fields, making sure the underlying soil has the required composition to allow proper drainage and to support the grasses used on the fields. We mark design boundaries and paint natural and artificial turf fields with team logos and names before events. We operate powered equipment, such as mowers, tractors, twin-axle vehicles, snow blowers, chainsaws, electric clippers, sod cutters, and pruning saws. We use hand tools such as shovels, rakes, pruning saws, saws, hedge and brush trimmers, and axes. We also provide janitorial services. We have janitors and cleaners perform a variety of heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glasses, removing leaky faucets, emptying trash cans, doing painting and carpentry, replenishing bathroom supplies, mowing lawns, and seeing that heating and air-conditioning equipment works properly. On a typical day, we may wet- or dry-mop floors, clean bathrooms, vacuum carpets, dust furniture, make minor repairs, and exterminate insects and rodents. We may also clean snow or debris from sidewalks in front of buildings and notify management of the need for major repairs. We also wash windows.
