FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I don't do complicated!! My tag line is REAL Experience. REAL Simple. I charge $15 for 15 minutes or $25 for 30 minutes. No additional pet fees. *Only additional fees would be if I am taking care of a farm and it takes more time than a regular pet sit.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Because I stayed in the veterinary field for so long, I was able to keep up on my continuing education through veterinary conferences such as NAVC and CVC.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I did not grow up with animals! As soon as I moved out I got a dog and then another and then another!! I knew I wanted to work with animals but was lucky enough to work at AOL back in the height of the growing industry and couldn't quite afford to go work in a kennel for $7 an hour to gain experience. When my daughter was born sick (she is now almost 16 and just fine) I was faced with a choice. Once she came home from the hospital she was not allowed to go to daycare or even outside for MONTHS! I left AOL to stay home with her and at that time decided some money was better than no money and when I could go back to work it would be with animals. I lucked into my first Practice Manager job because of my office skills and there began my hands on pet care skills as well by quickly learning to assist the Doctors and tech for surgeries. After many years of managing practices and being asked daily if I was available to take care of pets, it became obvious where I belonged!
