FAQs

I attend the International Woodworking Fair in Atlanta every other year when it is held which is one of the two largest of its kind in the world. There is a wealth of information to be had at these shows as well as sharing of information, new products can be seen and handled for their quality and appearance. And there is a multitude of trade journals that offer alot of the same type material throughout the years in the interim.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I took shop class for the first time in the 8th grade where I had to build something for class. My mother suggested I make her a desktop bookshelf. So I made one of walnut with no glues or screws just four pieces of wood with chair shaped ends and through mortises and tenons held together with wedges. (She still has it on her desk today) My dad saw the next project for her which was a laptop desk she could use in bed and he came to me with all sorts of projects for around the house. I loved what I was doing and committed myself to making a living at it if I had to sleep in the shop to do so.
- What types of customers have you worked with?
The most common job is a shelving over cabinets type display/entertainment center or office piece. They are all constructed much the same but used in different places and have a multitude of different configurations for their uses.
