FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I believe finding the right teacher-student fit is incredibly important, which is why I offer 50% off a first trial lesson. This allows us to meet, discuss goals, and experience a lesson together with no pressure. My pricing reflects my advanced training and professional experience, but I strive to keep lessons accessible and worthwhile for families. I am happy to discuss lesson length and frequency to best meet your needs.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by getting to know the student - both musically and personally. In our first lesson, we’ll talk about goals (school band, auditions, youth orchestra, festivals, playing for fun, or anything else), assess current technique and musicianship, and identify short- and long-term priorities. From there, I create a personalized plan that balances fundamentals, repertoire, and confidence-building. I check in regularly and we can adjust as goals evolve. My aim is that our lessons always feel supportive, focused, engaging and motivating.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have formal training at the highest levels in both performance and music education, including a bachelor degree from the Eastman School of Music and a master's and PhD from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama. My musical background includes extensive orchestral, solo, and chamber music experience, international study as a Fulbright Scholar, and participation in elite summer festivals such as Tanglewood, Chautauqua, and the Yale School of Music's Norfolk Chamber Music Festival. This combination allows me to teach with both depth and clarity, adapting complex concepts for students at any level.
