JC provided a thorough explanation of the work he was performing to properly tune my piano which had not been tuned in years. His prices were fair and he was extremely responsive and professional. He even provided a written follow up report with technical details. I highly recommend!

I was very happy I hired J.C. Alegre. I wasn't sure what to expect, since this was my first time on Thumbtack. But I was quite impressed by how professional and knowledgeable he was. He is clearly an expert on pianos and he took the time to clearly explain the tuning process to me. After he was done, my piano sounded amazing. His price was also reasonable. I will definitely hire him when it is time for my piano to be tuned again. If you need a piano tuner, he will not disappoint you!

The piano has never had the servicing that JC did yesterday. Not only did he do the tuning, but he discovered that it needed some additional work, tightening screws. I was surprised to see how much debris had accumulated under the keys, and he vacuumed that and lubricated the pins. We are very happy with his work, and will call him again in six months.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I offer the most competitive rate for piano tuning in the Washington DC metro area: a minimum fee of $170 (estimate) for a top quality tuning service fully customized to your own piano. Pianos that have not been tuned in a long time may need a pitch adjustment, which is a $75 surcharge. I will be able to determine the need for pitch adjustment once I hear the piano.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I seek from my new customers information about the piano, how often is played, and the last regular tuning performed. I also share details of the tuning session, including average time needed to complete the job, any potential additional adjustments, and ask for any other additional information that will help achieving the best outcome from a customized tuning session. I also offer various options about my availability to perform the tuning so the customer can choose the most convenient day and time.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I have provided my tuning and piano maintenance/repair services to individual owners, schools, music academies, and churches.
