About Erica Westmoreland Photography

Erica Westmoreland, a Virginia Beach native, got her start as a filmmaker. Through her work at the College of William and Mary as a Film Studies major and a film editor with Modest Conspiracy, an independent production company, Erica has developed an eye for a unique style in presenting life as it unfolds. She volunteered to photograph the wedding of a friend in 2009 and hasn't been able to stop taking pictures since then.

Erica's photography combines the technical proficiency and artistic sensibility she cultivated as a film editor with patience, intuition, and joy of someone who loves working with people and a camera. She specializes in weddings, families, children, pets, and headshots with an eye for capturing candid moments as well as traditional-posed portraits. Whether you are updating your family portrait or celebrating your wedding day, she would love to be there to capture the moment.

Stylistically, Erica aims to present something artistic, emotional, and elegant. In every photo shoot, the goal is for clients to feel comfortable to show their true selves and take the very best photographs. Erica's love is taking photographs, and hopes you will love having your picture taken by her.

Erica was friendly, easy to work with, and the pictures were absolutely beautiful! She is a wonderful photographer for families! Her enthusiastic personality, patience, and obvious love for kids is evident in the gorgeous pictures she takes. She beautifully captured adorable moments between my two children! We can't wait to have her photograph us again!

Question and answer

Q. How did you get started doing this type of work?

A. My education and background was in Film Studies. In 2009, I volunteered to photograph the wedding of a friend and I was instantly addicted. The best pieces of everything I loved about video editing was at my fingertips with a camera in my hand and I didn't want to put it down (and I haven't!)
