GREAT service, GREAT communication with me, WOULD USE AGAIN in a minute for appliance repair! I had a problem with a non-draining front loader washing machine. I had called a big, non-local firm to do the work. That non-local firm scheduled me and canceled at the last minute. DMV Appliance Repair was the opposite. Gave me a small window when he would show up, and he did. Asked about the issue in advance and had already figured out what the problem might be. I was really looking forward to getting my desk treadmill serviced, but unfortunately, I ended up quite disappointed with an unexpected upcharge. The service call was advertised at $25, which seemed reasonable. However, after Safi assessed the issue, we both agreed that the repair cost would exceed the value of my 8-month-old desk treadmill. Safi was incredibly helpful and kind, referring me to the manufacturer to request a refund for the faulty equipment.
What left me feeling dissatisfied was learning at the end of the visit that I would be charged $75—a full $50 more than the advertised price. Safi explained that he had asked Thumbtack to update the pricing information on the site, but this had not been done. Although no services were performed, Safi explained the $75 was a trip fee.
While Safi himself was professional and very warm throughout, I am quite unhappy about the misleading pricing. After expressing my frustration, Safi did refund me $5, which I appreciate, but I still feel that the service price should align with what is advertised.
