FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I use the industry standard estimating system called XACTIMATE for insurance work. When it comes pricing I base all my price through that estimating system in which 99% of insurance companies use to write up their estimates. If a homeowner is in a time of need, I will make sure I take care of them as I were in their shoes so I will always work out a price for them.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
FIRST i like to explain the customer the process of a water mitigation job, mold job, or fire damage job. I like to educate my customers so they have a better understanding of the scopes of work and why certain things need to be done a certain way to have their home restored back to normal. By that meaning, what needs to be demo'd, what can be saved, should they file with insurance, can they cover it, how long the process is ( usually with water damage 3 days), how many days the equipment will be onsite, and what health risks can the damage can bring. Etc SECOND I write up the estimate through my findings and email it to them. In each line item I write the meaning on which why I have written it in my estimate. The industry estimating system is called XACTIMATE which I use for insurance company jobs.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My mother was in the cleaning and restoration business for over 12 years, she was the head women for the cleaning crew for fire and general residential cleaning. She got me into the business when I took my first job with a restoration company that she worked in called Servpro based in Loudoun County, VA. Every since then I built my way up the ranks from pack out, to helper, to finally a crew chief. Went to classes to get more knowledge from the business in which I obtained my water and mold certifications through IICRC (Institute of Inspection, cleaning and restoration certifications). I started when I was 17 years old till present and know I am taking a journey into starting my own restoration company. * I also do many residential roof projects as well.
