Introduction: I teach people who want to grow from their stress and injury how to heal themselves by developing an empowered relationship with their bodies. I offer Private and Group Instruction in Movement and Personal Training, Yoga, and TREⓇ (tension and trauma release exercise). I have been teaching Hatha Yoga and Yin yoga since 2017. I’m a 500 E-RYT Certified Hatha Yoga teacher, and I also bring 20 years of Personal Training experience, specializing in pre & post rehabilitative work, to my instruction. I hold a Personal Training certification through the American Council on Exercise and am a Balanced Body Pilates instructor. I’m a certified TREⓇ provider (Tension & Trauma Release Exercise). I studied TREⓇ with Jay Gleason MS, LCMHC, LADC of Burlington, VT, and I have assisted at several of his TRE® provider Level 1 & 2 certification training programs. I Graduated University of Vermont, Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude with a double major in Psychology and Sociology. As your personal movement and healing educator I bring many tools and practices from a variety of arenas of study and practice: personal fitness and movement training with advanced studies in trauma informed weight lifting; pre & post rehab; fascia and anatomy studies; yoga; meditation and movement practices; and more! I offer trauma-informed care that includes safety, trust & transparency, collaboration and mutuality, empowerment & choice; and I’m continually building my cultural, gender, and historical awareness. All this, as well as my own personal experiences in these arenas!

What I particularly like about working with Joann is that she meets me where I am (physically, emotionally, spiritually) and always seems to know what will push me just past my growing edges without going so far beyond them that I can’t follow. I feel totally safe and comfortable in her presence and under her tutelage.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer pricing with a Pay from the Heart model (see my website for specifics) as well as donation based classes and scholarships.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I offer a free 20 minute discovery call. If you decide to continue with a Private sessions package your first session, the "Intake Session" comes with a money back guarantee. In this session we review your intake forms and/or application and collaborate to clarify your goals and intentions for working together. If we decide after that first session we are not a good fit, you don't pay. If you do continue, that session is your first appointment in your package. Some trauma based offerings are stand alone short packages, like the TRE/tension and trauma release exercise package.
