FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
When I was a little girl, I began planning events as part of my playtime. At 7, I was producing plays for my brother and me to perform, and by 9, I was producing musical events in our neighborhood, getting lots of kids to play music, having my brother sell tickets to neighbors, and then acting as the MC. People would actually come! This is something that I've always done, and I realized one day, as I was working in my business, that what I do feels so familiar...and it is. It's all those components that I played at growing up--coming up with a concept, making a plan, involving others, and bringing everything together into a whole. That people feel good, that they feel respected, appreciated, cared for, and included, is a large part of why I decided to create this business. No one should feel anything but warmly welcome at an event they're invited to. I have so much fun doing what I do!
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Planning an event is a very personal thing, even if your event is public or for a large gathering. The planning becomes personal because emotions are always at play, even if they're not considered important in the planning. Anyone looking for an event planner, I feel, should pay close attention to how she or he feels when interacting with the prospective event planner. It's important to feel comfortable and confident...to feel that you're heard and that your concerns and wishes are understood and taken seriously so that the planning is what you need...then you can end up having a seriously good time!
