FAQs
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
Well, I grew up in Vermont but got hood-winked into spending 16 years in NYC. While in exile, I'd come up here in and look at every house for sale on the market to keep my dreams alive of coming back to the sweet Green Mountains. I finally moved back here with my husband and baby and bought a house but couldn't seem to stop the habit of looking around at houses. I'd put the baby in the backseat for his nap and just drive around, slowing down looking at for sale signs, for two hours at a time, seven days a week, just for fun (and to keep the little guy sleeping). Eventually I decided to turn my pleasure into my business and now it's both.
- What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Call a realtor, ask a bunch of questions, get some information, don't be shy - it's their job to know stuff! If you're interested in buying in a specific locale, ask the realtor if s/he knows what the general house economy in the area is like these days, are there areas nearby that have lower property taxes? Better schools? Superfund toxic waste dumps on the other side of that thin line of trees! Movie stars, swimming pools, good cafes, bad vibes - ask questions till you feel like your realtor has the approach and the knowledge base that will really serve you.
