Introduction: HeartSong Reiki and HeartSong for Animals is dedicated to providing Reiki and Reiki training in the Japanese system of Reiki as taught by the International House of Reiki and the Animal Reiki Source. HeartSong Reiki provides classes and sessions for people and animals. Kelly McDermott-Burns is experienced in teaching large and small classes in and around Vermont, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and Maryland. Kelly is a member of Shibumi International Reiki Association and a founding member of the Shelter Animal Reiki Assoc. Trained as a hospice and palliative care volunteer, Kelly is also the Reiki Program Coordinator for Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Kelly helped my cat and I gently close the door to our shared path. After over 19 years together, I wanted his last days to be peaceful. Kelly was paramount in achieving this goal for us both. Even after his transition she reached out to me. I cannot thank her enough for her kindness and skill.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Several times a year I study with Frans Steine of the International House of Reiki. I participate in tele-classes and once or twice a year I study with Frans in person. Frans also continues his studies and researches Reiki. I believe it is just as important to have a teacher who continues to evolve in their practice. As a member of the Shelter Animal Reiki Assoc. I have the advantage of participating in conference calls/lectures with many experts in the field of animal healing. I also continue to study with Kathleen Prasad of Animal Reiki Source. Kathleen is my Animal Reiki teacher and also a student of Frans Steine.
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Call and talk to potential practitioners/teachers. Ask about their practice and if they do regular self-treatment.
